Sores in horses mouth??

It's probably good hay, they just cut it too late and the seedheads are what are causing the sores. The weather has been so crazy this year, it probably either went to seed to early, or they had to wait because of the weather to cut it.

Some horses are more sensitive than others. One of ours had sores from the seedheads, but the other 2 didn't. We just have to be careful and check the bales before we buy them. If we see too many seedheads, we choose another. I know if you are buying 30 bales at a time, that may not be possible, but we only get 5-6 at a time.

Glad it wasn't something more serious!

I think that you are right. There are alot of seeds in this hay. This makes the most sense because it is good hay and they do love it. It is hard because I bought 40 bales and some only have a few and other bales are covered.
Thank You very much you helped solve the mystery. I was trying to figure out what it was in the hay.
