With sadness,I'm here to say that one of my two week old baby chicks got eaten by hawk. My broody hen hatch , two beautiful baby chicks, and unfortunately today one of them got eaten. I Was really trying to have them be raised outside with the flock. I'm currently on my way to a feeder to get two baby chicks. I placed to fake eggs underneath the broody hen. I have also placed the remaining baby shake and broody.Hand the mom and a brooder in my house. Now my planet is to place the baby chicks underneath the mom at night.Time and take away the fake eggs. My question now is can I introduce the baby chicks to the flock little-by-little?Should I place the bruter outside during the day or what do I do?How do I introduce them now. Because my flog was getting used to these baby chicks. And now all of a sudden I have to take them away and put him in my house on a brooder. I really need help answering these questions as I am a little lost and a loss of words for that cute.Little baby chick that we lost. Thank you for your time for reading this and thank you for those who respond as well.

I am sorry you lost your chick. That is so hard! Can you put Mama and her babies in a cage next to or inside of your coop? I use a rabbit hutch with a wire wall that lets the older birds get used to seeing the babies but not get close enough to hurt them. When I let the babies into the big run, I make sure they have lots of places to hide so they can get away from bullies. Good Luck!

So, so sorry for your loss. :hugs

You'll just have to try it with your broody hen. I recently did this by hatching over 30 chicks, and at the time, had three broodies, but only one that truly was and took the chicks. They are with adults in a breeding pen for their first couple of weeks, and then we'll let them free range. The momma protects them, and roosters help and don't hurt the babies. The other hens just stay away.

There she is toward the chicken door.

I'm a bit confused. Have you given fake eggs to the hen that already hatched chicks two weeks ago, because you want her to also accept the younger chicks you're going to buy? Or are you talking about two separate hens?

Leave her with her own baby and leave the mother and the baby with the flock. If he's already 2 weeks old I doubt she will accept a foreign chick.
If you intervene too much you might make things worse and add more problems to the problem.
