SOS PLEASE HELP Shrink-wrapped? duck day 28

Nope! Air can still get through the pores of the eggs so it'll be fine.

Did you take a pic?
its elevated in the cup from the drying ducklings while the brooder warms up! i put a thermometer in there to be sure of temp and the gave below it is dry! humidity is 75 and 98F. i’ll get a better pic in a bit he has a HUGE artery still on the membrane

Ok, that looks good. 👍
Make sure the babies can't knock it over though. I like to keep the temp at 99 throughout the hatching so no one gets chilled. You might want to up it a tad bit.

Okay! The piece of tape is getting foggy, should I replace it so the condensation doesn't hurt the duckling?

@MGG the bottom of the taped egg’s shell is turning yellow, could this be bacterial? the bird inside is still alive but separated from the other open eggs on the bottom of the aircell on the inside it looks like the membrane is growing up on the shell? i don’t think the duckling has pipped yet

Oh gosh, sorry!!! I've had a crazy day.
That's ok. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I've seen that happen to my other assists before, and they are fine. I can never figure out what makes it look that way.
Take the tape off for now.

thank you so much! and no worries!

Okay i hate to bug you but i also had this tiny little guy hatch today and his navel was/is exposed and umbilical cord is dried hanging off it. ik the umbilical part will drop on its own but im worried since he was laying in the dirty incubator drying iff for so long that its infected. I put iodine on it thats why the feathers are that color near the navel. will this impede him from pooping? is it the same hole? what can i do for him?

You aren't a bother!
It's just a rough navel. The iodine is good. If you have any honey or triple antibiotic ointment you can put that on too. The navel is like the belly button, it's a different hole than the one they poop out of. They poop out of their vent. There's not much you can do other than keep it clean, and make sure no other ducklings peck at it.
It should heal over soon.

Yeah, that's somewhat normal. Do you have any electrolytes or nutridrench that you can give him?

I've been giving him duravet vitamins &electrolytes (1/4 tsp to 1 gallon) but he's just SOOOOO sleepy :hit
