Sour Crop Cured but still no eggs!!!!

Maybe you should lock her up in cage for one or two days just to make sure. Did she alway lay in the same spot before?

She is still doing great! She has layed another egg and I dusted both hens and the coop and yard with poultry dust, it seemed to help with the plucking her feathers so much. I think she was being bit by fleas because one of our dogs gets them and I was getting bit too. So the poultry dust took care of that, no more fleas!! I do think my girls are moulting because Happy Feet hasn't layed an egg for five days and I am seeing a few of her feathers around so I added apple cider vinegar to their water and some sunflower seeds to their diet. They love the seeds, I have even seen them crack them and eat just the seed and I am finding little piles of the shells around their areas!! These girls are so happy and healthy I am one proud Mama!!

Hi:). I took both of our hens to the vet last week to get checked out so they can lodge them while our house is being tented. Both girls got a clean bill of health!:D:D. I was so happy

Our vet was very nice she spent about an hour with us and thoroughly checked both girls. We talked extensively about the sour crop issues with Blue. She advised me to call her if it happens again, also she leaned towards sour crop being a symptom if something else(reproductive system issues). That scared me to death because the first thing that comes to mind is cancer! She assured me not to worry because at this time Blue is a VERY healthy girl! Happy Feet and Blue were so freaked out about the whole thing. They had to ride in the cage they lived in when they were little babies before they moved out to the backyard & their coop. When we got there they were both sitting in their cage with their mouths wide open. I think Blue kept her mouth open the entire time but they got comfortable with the Vet right away & by the end of the visit they were pooping and trying to fly up to the counter to see what else was going on( of course I helped them get up there) & they both just hung out with us and let the vet pet them while she talked about how healthy they are and how they do not have any mites or parasites. It was a great visit well worth the $90 for both girls!!

Oh My GOSH!!!! She is having a slow crop again!!! Now Im worried this is her 3rd time having this!!!. It has been raining for two days now, This is the third day of rain. Our backyard is wet and puddles are everywhere. Yesterday my Blue bird was so happy with all the goodies she was eating around the yard, the rain brought lots of bugs and slugs out. She ate them all up an she was so happy and vibrant and strong! but when I went to put her to bed (in the hen house and coop) in the evening I noticed her crop was super full and squishy and she was drinking a lot of water. I usually hang out with my hens Blue and Happy Feet off on on throughout the day, turning dirt over with the shovel, watching them eat up the sprouts of seeds that grew, raking up their poop, giving them fresh water, sunflower seeds, peanuts, etc... before I tuck them in to their coop and hen house I observe them for about half an hour to make sure they are acting normal and stuff. Yesterday was fun observing them because they were so happy scratching at everything the rain brought up:) I noticed Blue kept going to the water more than normal and her crop was so full and squishy. She was so healthy strong and vibrant I decided to massage her belly and put them to bed with only water in their coop. Hoping she would just wake up with an empty crop. This morning she woke up with the same full squishy crop!!!!:(:(:( I helped her regurgitate twice and then gave her a tablespoon of BioK(a probiotic drink) and mixed "Save-A-Chick" in her water. When I put her down after feeding the BioK with a little syringy thingy, she ran avoiding the puddles into her little hen house and took cover under the top floor where she lays her eggs. She has been laying about 6 eggs per week since her last bout of sour crop. I cant believe how fast things go downhill! Less than 24 hours ago she was scratching & roosting & preening away happily and vigorously with a nice strong comb!. Now she's taking cover with a squishy full crop & her comb is flopping down! Does anyone have any educational advice? Our Vet told us that sour crop is a secondary symptom, and that there is another underlying problem most likely. I did put a call into our vet, of course they are closed today I am thinking of calling their emergency Vet because things go south so quick!!!

I'm no expert for sure but have you tried just keeping her confined for awhile and only feeding her crumbles and see what happens with her croup emptying?

Yes!! I sure did! I also
Gave her 1 ml of miconazole 2% and then I took my daughter and two friends to a concert so I put her & her sister Happy Feet in their hen house/coop for the rest of the day and night with just some crumbles and water, I was gone for 12 hours when I got back she was acting normal perching on her favorite branch sleeping. Her crop still hasn't gotten completely empty but she is absolutely acting normal and happy and vibrant again! I do believe that she is definitely molting well actually both of my hens are because there are a LOT of feathers around:).

I did speak to our vet and she said that she isn't sure why this is happening & if it happens again to use the miconazole & ( don't eat the egg after that...) & to call her again if miconazole stops working..... I was pleased she didn't insist on me bringing her in & forking over another $50
