Sorry about the loss of your chicken, there. Sorry to hear it. It's a horrible problem to have. I Wonder about underlying conditions as Two Crows has mentioned that present other issues like this. But your efforts are noted and here now for others to try. And who knows how they might turn out for another chicken.

Thanks for posting that necropsy info but surprised it doesn't mention anything about the digestive (or reproductive) tract that would cause the crop issue you were seeing and trying to treat.

I’m quite surprised as well, actually. I actually emailed the vet back and asked if he had any thoughts on what was I impacted and he said he didn’t see anything specific. I’m so surprised that I actually wonder if they’ve mixed up the reports between this and my other hen...

That is a logical conclusion..... Did you give a history of illness with the carcass? Was it a state vet that did the necropsy or a local vet? The bits of the report you posted just doesn't seem to make sense compared to the symptoms you were seeing with this bird.

I need to look that up again, but off the top of my head it's similar to ketoconazole which is 20 mg/kg twice a day, though it might be only once a day. I'll look later for ya.

Wow, what a nice manual of all the meds!! I'm going to stash this one in my bookmarks.

Ok, this manual days 5-15mg/kgs orally once daily.

BUT, I just found this while searching around in the Mercks manual, 5-15mgs/kg twice daily.

Hmmm....which one is right? I've got a bird with a very severe yeasty doughy crop that nothing cures. I went to the vet yesterday and got some of these Fluconazole tabs 100 mgs each. I don't know how fast they kick in but I gave the bird one dose yesterday (25mgs, shes about 5 pounds) and there is no improvement yet. Should I use twice a day or be patient?
