Treating sour crop...How much is .3cc to .4cc measure for the cinnamon/ginger/lemon mix?
How much baking soda is suggested?
HII am familiar with the crop elixir formula, that you are referring to.
I have never given this mixture to my chickens, because of the lemon juice and baking soda interaction. This is equivalent to giving them an Alka-Seltzer, effervescent antacid, minus the aspirin. And I have always been able to resolve their crop issues.
I'm not sure how this will help sour crop, since it is the presence of yeast that cause the souring of the crop contents. Or, more accurately, the fermentation of the contents. This may neutralize the fermentation, giving temporary relief, but the yeast must still be addressed.
Here is the formula:
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Chili powder
1/2 teaspoon Ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate)
2 Tablespoons water
squirt of lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon converts to 2.5 mL or cc.
Let us know how it works for your chicken.
God Bless![]()
