Sour crop?

I went to check for eggs and found one of my hens licking her beak a lot. Then, she put her head down and a little clear fluid came out. She started licking her beak again after that. She's still eating and drinking. She acts like all of the other chickens. Does she have sour crop? What should I look for? Did she just get a drink of water and choke on it maybe?

In the morning check to see if her crop has emptied. Her breath will also have a sour smell.

I’ve had chickens drink too much and the water not make it down to the crop all the way before they went back for another drink. Causing the water they just drank to spill out of their mouth. This usually happens to my older chicks who have to bend their heads down to get to the water.

Thanks. I checked her crop last night and it was empty. She's 7 months old. I've never seen sour crop before. I've only had chickens for 9 months.

I have a question about my cockerel @Smileybans . When he crows he sounds a little raspy. If he gets really worked up about something he sounds a little raspy too. He still acts normal. Is this normal for roos?

Could you get a video of it? You would have to post it to YouTube, or some other video sharing service, and shears the link. How old is he? I have young roos that sound raspy before they get their full crow but if he’s been crowing for awhile it could be something else.

He's almost 8 months old. When I try to catch him he starts to get raspy. It usually goes away when he calms down. Sorry, I can't get any videos to load. His crow kind of sounds like yelling with a little whine at the end.

Is it a wheeze? Kind of like he’s out of breath
Yeah, at the end of the crow. Maybe that's why he gets raspy when I try to catch him or when he gets worked up. He's the only roo I have that does that though. That's why I was a little concerned about him.

Is he coughing or sneezing too? My rooster was wheezing just a couple months ago. He was the only one out of four roosters doing it. I gave him some antibiotics, tylan, and his wheeze got better. It didn’t go away but got better. He still wheezes when he mates but only then. Instead of all the time.

He doesn't cough or sneeze that I've noticed. One of the hens does, but only when I ignore her so I think she does it for attention.
