Source for US made dried mealworms?

@texsuze - I'm not completely sure about that. Their website does not include anything about mealworms being made in the US, and I found a Facebook post where the company explained that, at least as of 2013, the mealworms they sold were also from China.

I will let you know about how much "waste" comes with the black soldier fly larvae. I ordered a 1lb bag, which cost $17, with free shipping. I'll report back.

I bought a five pound bag and have seen no waste at all in the bag ... just lovely dried black soldier fly larvae. Their soldier fly larvae bag is clearly marked as being made in the USA.

Alright, the "tasty grubs" aka black soldier fly larvae came yesterday.

I didn't see much in terms of grains/waste making up too much of the bag, just a little dust. You can sort of see how it clung to the bag a little here:

But when you opened the bag, it was pretty much a big bag of dried creepy crawlies :)

The girls approved. They make me laugh when they eat them, it sounds like kids eating cheetos the way they make that "puff" crunch when they bite them.

amen to that that why I wanna do my own mealworkms some people are even doing the black soldier flies......
have yall even checked out stuff coming fromchina.. heck even some prepared junk say like Rite aid has comes from China.. even saw Garlic from there too at a local small produce stand.... NO THANK YOU
I have been meanin to even write ALDIs lots of their can goods say "distrubuted by" nothing no mention of USA produced....
I bet that is what I had that time in my compost bin several years ago in my moved from house....
i gave some to Hubby to fish,, he said they were not good for fishing too small. that was LONG before chickens here at this house...

Thanks for this great info.
I disagree w/ above post that if a product doesn't say where it's from, it's from the US. Most companies (regardless of product produced) proudly proclaim that they are made in the US as it is a great marketing tool and the product is generally recognized as safe. Be cautious to also note that "distributed by" is not the same as "made by"...there are a lot of US companies who distribute products made in China. If it's made in the US, it will be mentioned. No matter how many layers of US approvals and inspections a "made in China" product may have, I wouldn't trust it. Like a previous poster noted, many dogs have died from USDA approved China made food. And let's not forget the Chinese drywall and myriad of other toxic goods that were produced by China and allowed in to the country.#BuyUSA

I love the Tasty Grubs! I've been feeding them to my babies since I got them in 2013. I've also spoken to the lady who owns it. I think her name is Brenda?? Their dried mealworms are from China, but like the others, tested for certain chemicals, blah, blah.... But the Tasty Grubs are USA made. I used them over the winter to help with my naked chickens and they really helped out. And the company save bats!

I just discovered the site http://vita-mealie.weebly.com/

They grow their own mealworms in North Carolina, which are fed an organic diet. You can get live ones as well, that have been fed extra vitamins their whole lives (the "vita-mealies") or the plain organic-fed dried mealworms.

Prices look reasonable compared to what I can get (from China, non-organic) at the local stores. I also hate feeding any feed/treats from outside the US/Canada. I am going to give this US company a try! Not quite ready to have a shipment of live mealworms stored in my fridge though... going to stay with the dried ones :)
