has a magical sound to it. I have 5 grandchildren and a good relationship with all of them. Maybe because there is not a great mental difference in our ages.

I want a broody too!

I've never ever ever had one. Why? Because some big BYC meanie put the rooster curse on me!

My adult roo (in my avatar) is the one mothering all of the chicks I bought. He is doing a good job but he has a short fuse and tends to pluck the hiney feathers out of the formerly beautiful white orp twin bullies.

Ok...I know I'm going to regret this later. I need my girls (only have 2 able to at the moment) to go goodness BROODY. again. Most of my babies are gone and I need more. Ok, My hens aren't the best. They totally ignore babies when they are hatched. But I have room in the brooders. Send some broody juju my way pleeeeeeeeease.

You don't want brooder babies. Babies raised by a good broody are the best! Head on over to Ideal Poultry (they're in Cameron, TX) and get you some of them dang salmon faverolles they have!

My three - Doe, Ray, Mi - are currently rotating like this: Go broody, hatch, wait till your chicks are 3 months old, go broody again. And the dang things are doing it in order.... Doe, Ray, Mi, Doe, Ray......

Doe is the best of the broodies. My silkie Jethro? She's a ditz. Wanna know how much of a ditz? She's raising 3 store bought polish chicks. Polish are supposed to be the nitwits of the chicken world. Everybody's learning a new pop door today. Jeth's polish chicks were running in and out of it all day long, they had no problem with it. Their mother however had to be shown repeatedly (like 30 times!) how to use the pop door. What does that say about Jethro's intelligence when she can be outsmarted by a 2 week old polish???

Meanwhile Jethro's other chick, Uno the Imp chick, is standing outside in the cold and dark with her mom. What do we do now Mom? Someone moved the door!

Kitt, broody PM sent. I've been working on the broody GPS, and hopefully these broodies will not misdirect to Gritty.

Hey, Sour, could you ensure that my silkie stays broody until I buy some eggs in a few weeks? She has been sticking for about 2 months, i finally gave up on breaking her and decided to buy some eggs. Its probably your fault in the first place that she went broody...
