That is what I am afraid of...but only 6 or 7 more days till PIP time...I am going to leave them and pray! This is my first hatch and I had set everything and have an auto turner and checked and topped off the water and TOLD them NOT to touch it before I had to travel for work for a week (the eggs had been set for 8 days before I left) !!! The thermostat had been moved when I returned and...of course..."they" said - "I did't touch it!" ... Yea - right! I just hope...
My gals just started laying...unfortunatly the are not with the roo due to some flock meet problems...Amy and I believe phoneman and farmer John have them also!! Try one of them!

I am not a happy girl. I collected 3 baskets of eggs today, that was good. I sat each basket on the porch when it was full so they wouldn't get rained on. I brought one basket inside and went back to get the other 2 baskets only to see my DCH (Dear Careless Husband)
knock both baskets off the porch.....and he didn't even know he'd done it......didn't even hear the crash when they all hit the floor and broke into pieces. All 5+ dozen eggs including my hatching eggs that were already sold. That made me feel sick, all that work - a whole day's worth of eggs- wasted.

I'm changing DCH (Dear Careless Husband) to just CH (Careless Husband). I'm still mad. He actually laughed when I showed him what he'd done. LAUGHED????? I wanted to cry.
Just got home after my first week gone since being owned by chickens...in my humble opinion things have not gone well at the farm (can I call it that since it is only a couple acres in the country?...no neighbors!) Reports from DD after driving an hour to get eggs saved for her was...NO WATER!!!
chicken-sitters said they did the water... next news from chicken-sitters was more eggs in one day than possible??? (musta not collected one day!) then I get home...they (chicken-sitters) poked a hole in the brooder plastic top to let the water off...into the brooder...all they had to do is flip the lid up and back down...geez...it IS on the covered porch!!! so all the bedding is WET! and no food there....no water in the other coop....no food anywhere and they (chicken-sitters) have fed corn scratch ALL week after I left money for real FEED!!! GEEZ...somehow all my babies...grown...half grown...and chicks...are alive...did I say the incubator had been fiddled with and was 107^ ??? this is the end of week two...rekon those eggs have a chance?

Oh my, mine would be sleeping in the motor home if he did that and laughed. I am so sorry to hear that~is it a full moon? Everyone seems to be having a tough weekend.
I must say I am not fond of feeding my chickens in the rain. It's hard to hold an umbrella and feed at the same time. Throw in a flashlight and it's nearly impossible.
Just got home from eating dinner out to find a big ole ugly opossum crossing the road. Locked my silkies up in the nick of time. My oldest (whom is 8) grabbed his beebe gun to protect me.
