WestKnollAmy,

So far we have 6 babies that hatched last night. no more pips yet, crossing our fingers for the other 9 that have made it so far. Last night one had a curled up foot, but this morning it looks fine. Most of the BLRW are out. One piped around 5:00PM on Friday, nothing else, Kris checked at 2:00AM and nothing more, then at 4:30AM when I checked there was another cute baby

Watching babies hatch is DEFINATELY BAD for an addiction.

Congrats on the little egg-crackers...LOL

Glad to hear it, Robert!

It sounds like your bator is on the right track for hatching. Has it been holding temps well during the hatching process? Did you see a spike in temp and humidity before they started hatching?
Any ones that do not hatch you can open up to see if there was any reasons for them to have not emerged. Most times I can't tell that there was any reason for them not to have but sometimes you can see too much water inside where they drowned or they did not quite finish developing.
I bet you all have had fun candling them!!

And boy, oh, boy! The addiction has hit!

Temperature very steady, but the humidity, wow, condensation on the window big time.

no more pips yet. it is tough waiting! Checking evey 15 minutes or so.

Candled every day from Day 4 through 15. very interesting to see the movement. They realy grow fast those last few days! those blue eggs are very hard to see through.

I raise them but don't sell any really. I think they are beautiful, love the rainbow colors. Do you have some? The market for small birds/finches has dropped so in the last few years that I haven't bred my canaries at all. I really need to set them up for breeding this time so that I don't lose my bloodline.

no never had finches. all i ever had was a pr of lovebirds and 2 cockertiels. i hand raised them from 3 day old that was a lot of fun.one day i would like to get me a few finches

Well I made it back from the show! Unfortunately the camera card that I stopped to get on the way to the show didn't work..got the wrong one

So I have no pics from the show other than a few random ones on my cell phone. There were a LOT of birds and I fell in love all over again with call ducks even though I already have a pair! Got to hang out with Mary and Kimberly which is always fun. Also got to meet Susanne and her family and Heidi and her family. I don't think I left anyone out...Anyways it was a great day! Long ride but well worth it. I didn't come home with any purchases only due to the fact that the call ducks I wanted were a little out of my price range right now! Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Got a new camera card that actually works...so I'm sorry in advance for pic overload but I took some long overdue pics of the chickies :)
The BLRW roo needs to find a home if anyone is interested. I think he's black laced but sometimes I see a blue sheen.
