So how do you fill up the big (is it a 5 gallon?) bucket? I need to research a gravity waterer because my coop(s) won't be close to water and I don't want to haul water out to them everyday.
I got the gravity waterer finished. No more having the fill up the 1 gallon waterer. There is 1 cup inside and two outside.

OK here are pics of our tractor coop that is maybe going to be way too big to actually move. My dh is still under the impression that it will be movable though!!

and my little chicks ... any guesses on the barred rock or blrw(pullet or roo?)

Love the Coop. and I may think the Barred Rock is a Roo...but it's only my guess...been wrong before. The blrw looks like a pullet.

And the Coop you may need to secure it(it looks like it maybe top heavy) unless its up against a building or another flat surface to block strong winds.

Inside of the 5 gallon bucket is a fill valve, like the one you put in a toilet. I plumbed water to the fill valve and it keeps the bucket full. Then, the water just feds down the other pipe, via gravity, to the three cups. If you don't have water near the coop, then you could have just the one gravity fed line out the bottom of the bucket. All you would have to do is disconnect the flexible line, go fill the bucket up, and connect the line back. Not sure how many chickens you have, but seems like 5 gallons of water would last awhile. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll help you out the best I can.

Do you think when we add some bracing around the bottom that will help? He is also going to add windows on the sides and doors for access to the coop. I have a feeling there will be a list of "should haves" when we are done!!! We are still planning to add wheels too.

Looking good so far. An idea just popped into my head. If only you had an old push mower that had the self propelled gizmo on the front of it. You could mount the engine and the self propelling part to the chicken tractor. How literal would that be.

Sorry, crazy ideas are always running through my mind.

Patsy: I do have some pretty awesome girls (I know I'm bias LOL).. I've worked really hard to raise my girls up right. It's been a long journey with the oldest (and I know we're not done yet) but at least I'm starting to see some of my hard work pay off.. :) I love all of my girls <3

Moonchild: That is a good idea. I guess great minds think alike because I had the idea of moving my incubator earlier today. Right now it's sitting on my bar that separates my kitchen from my living room (pretty central location).. It's away from all direct sunlight and drafts though.. I'm thinking of moving it into my back room though.. Only issue I think we may have in that room is that it's usually the coolest room in the house.. Do you think the A.C. temp would effect the temp in the incubator? or is that a stupid question??

Dee--if the temp is constant in that room then it will probably be ok but the other thing to consider is that apparently the AC will zap the humidity from the air too. I actually have mine in a somewhat drafty place so maybe I should move mine for next time too. Have you read that thread on LG incubator tricks(there is a great thread on byc and then there is also the link to incubator dry hatchign that is good info too)? It is very helpful. I will say that I ignore all the stuff about adding a fan to the bator.

OK our coop is starting to really cost some bucks. Sigh ....
