Wow that is pretty intense! Glad he got one but not so good that they are so brazen to get so close and get your dog!
Yes, they chewed her up pretty good but she is eating and hopefully will be alright. I really never thought they would get the little thing as she stays pretty close to the house. Now I am keeping her in the house.

Yancy, are you getting rid of all your Millie?
OH NO..I had a batch of eggs that my broody hen sat on, then killed the first one so I had to hatch the rest. So I now have 5 cute little boogers I need to sell. OH and NOW the same hen is broody again so I gave her EEeggs to hatch and two of hers, hopefully since the other MFd"Uccle isn't broody mothering will be easier.
But I'm ready for a sizzle bantam cochin and bantam polish for the Habitat...

Well hubby just shot a coyote in the front yard.  They got a hold of our Dashhound on Thursday and chewed her up pretty good.  I am surprised she got away.  He said there were 4 just out in the front yard about 50 feet from our where our truck was parked.  This is the first time we have seen them that close.   I am sure glad I always put my chickens in at night!  :th

So sorry to hear about you dog! We've seen coyote at the edges of our property and I'm always worried our dogs will bump into them. Glad you got her back!

A sizzle cochin and a polish bantam--sounds like fun! Can't wait to see the pictures when you get some! I saved a few little hens this year from my MF d'Uccles I hatched and will have to post some pictures. They are turning out really pretty! I so love our chickens--I couldn't sleep last night worrying about the coyotes....

Thank you! She is a mini dachshund and fearless to anything. I try to keep her in at night but some times she takes off and since she always returns I let her go do her thing. Last year she got snake bit defending my honor and I had that to worry about, now I guess she is defending the chickens.

Thank you! I am such a worry wort too, I just could not sleep knowing they are coming in that close to the house. I figured they would eventually because we got rid of our big yard dog several months ago after he developed a taste for dominiques. I think I will put a pen of my spare cockerels out front for some fresh grass tonight!

Quote: We ARE going to have a big area! What fun!

I do have some growing up, Mr Yancy but so far they are only showing yellow as they are not yet very old but they have those curling wing feathers already. No color showing yet. I am still watching them to get you girls. And NO! No more d'Uccles. Love them

but have absolutely no room for them. Too many projects and not enough LF egg layers. Can't believe I have so few LF breeding pens left. My bantams have taken over!

If those kids are not gone by Chickenstock we will surely find homes for them there. I actually have one Porcelain roo left that never had a mate and I suppose I will take him to sell.

I am looking forward to Chickenstock.
Please do save me a spot near all the SC Chicken Keepers.

Amy, I should have plenty of creamed honey for you.
I did not sell very much of anything at the Farm Days except creamed honey..
We are not going back tomorrow. Sunday is usually slow anyway.

Alright! Another spot saved!
I am telling you, if I can get Kimberly and Nicole out the door by 4:30 we will hit the road then!

Oh Yancy, it says it doesn't start until 9 am but when I get there that late (even 8 am) there are tons of people already shopping so I plan to be ready to sell by 7 am. I have so many birds to deliver and cages and meal worms that it may take me all morning to get them organized for the right folks anyhow.

Thank you, Miss Mary! I love your creamed honey! I hoard it back to keep my family from eating it up from me. I shared a jar of jelly Kimberly gave us and it was gone in a few days. It was great though!
