From the Union County Agricultural Fair:
My Young Trio Entry Took 2nd Place ( 1st place went to another beautiful trio of Rhode Island Reds )

While My Trio took 2nd My Individuals did well.
My Young Cockerel Took 1st ( They ran out of Ribbons but assured me it will be there before Saturday )

My Young Pullet did well with another 1st

My Laying Hen also Brought home a 1st.

Here is a shot of my Pullet and my Hen side by side in the line-up

And last and my Pride and Joy is my Breeding Trio ( who is in molt but tries to hide it. )
Also took 1st.

Here is one where you can see his molting neck.

Congrats Leirob!!! Great job raising them! Good looking RIR's!

Great job! Beautiful birds! How do you get them used to small cages?

you don't.
You condition your birds the best you can and hope they don't stress out..
Handraised birds like these are real mild about things anyway.
You pull one and stick it straight out of free run into a cage like I did if it was raised by a hen and they will wear their tail feathers out in hours.

Congrats! They are nice.

The best part about it. except for my Rooster all the other birds were taken on a " First caught first to go " basis. I did not pick and choose. I Literally caught up all nine birds loaded them in 5 cages loaded them on the truck and was pulling out of the yard in 5 min .

oh and re-banded the breeders as their leg bands were dirty
