South Carolina

You are welcome, Heidi. I took photos of the straight comb to show you he is as awesome as the rose comb. They were both very big boys, though I could not get them to look at the camera. They do have that rich deep red color and have always wished my hair was that color.

We had a lot of fun but I always do when I am hanging with my peeps!

Nikki, several of us are going to Clemson. Kimberly and Nicole, of course. I am not sure if Kimberly will have anything out of molt by that time to show but I hope to put in Toby Napoleon and Minnie Pearl Bride. LOL
And we know Mary Bell is going and I am hoping she is going to enter some Silkies to get her acquainted with showing so she can be ready with her big guns next year!

I am not sure who else will be there but I expect plenty of Silkie folks since it is the SC meeting.

Quote: The Anderson SC Bantam Club has their yearly ABA show there at the T Ed Garrison Arena. Many of us on here meet up at poultry shows to look over the birds, ooohhh and aaaahhh and drool and then also we have a tendency to buy birds we probably shouldn't but do it anyway!

I am so glad I did not have much money on me yesterday at the Morganton NC show. There were too many pretty birds for sale!

I had the best time yesterday at Morganton visiting with all my silkie mentors and chicken buddies.

I said I was not buying anything but of course I took a pet carrier just in case. I spotted some silkies before I got out of my car. LOL Someone beat me to the best looking two but I got a pair of Barbara Grubb's splashes. They are young and need to fill out a little but they are the color of splash I like the best...especially the little roo. I will post pics tomorrow. Her crest is so big she was bobbing at the water dish hitting the floor sometimes and the dish sometimes. I taped her crest up so she could see but the little roo did not like her new do so he immediately pulled the tape out. I retaped it and separated them. They are so much fun to watch.

I am going to the Clemson show. I am going to pick out a couple to show. They will not have been conditioned very much but it will be a learning experience for me. I plan to take some buff silkies to the Clemson show to sell also. I may also try to sell some guinea keets. Looking forward to it.

Mary, you know I love those pretty ones you bought! And I enjoyed listening to what is supposed to be bred to make them the correct color. Your girl is definitely a good buy and that roos is going to be an awesome fella. He is all little boy stuff now and I can't wait to see his handsome self all grown up! Your breeding pens are going to be the envy of many!

Someone is going to take my advice? Get the cameras ready. there has to be a disaster in the making. If you want to do something with the RIR's later on give me a shout. My incubator is running full blast trying to fill orders. ( I already need 52 pullets and only have 43 eggs set. but setting more tomorrow. )

The show in Clemson is Nov. 17.
If you are looking to buy anything it is best to get there by 8 am. Sellers will be out in the parking lot.
The judging starts at 9 am. We all wander up and down the aisles of birds unless it is roped off for the judging.
