Both of you have the same addiction....and tend to share the addiction....(or share the chicken disease? or something LOL) Especially since I (well WE because I am counting Todd's & Nicole's Chickens) have ummmm well...........

6 BSL hens
5 BSL Roosters
6 BR hens
1 Red rooster (he got from you
smile.png
I can't remember what it is)
8 OEGBs
2 Sizzles
31 Silkies
2 BOs
2 SLW
2 Silver Sebrights
1 JG
1 Mille Fleur d'Uccle
2 Barred Bantam Cochins (Pet Quality)
2 BTW Japanese
2 other Bantam Cochins (Pet Quality)

And I probably missed a couple........that's a lot of !chickens.

Show......Well. EH. LOL not great on splash.....pullets were way prettier. So I was 1 & 2 out of splash cockerals. pullets were RV and BV.....cant remember who got those
On the black silkies.... one of mine was 3rd. Best Variety out of those was GORGEOUS! It was one of Judy Gantt's. And Sandy (Bat Cave Silkies) was Reserve Variety
For first show, I am proud of 3rd

I did check Judy's out really good. LOL She had perfect or close to perfect type! Gives me something to aim for

Ohhhh Blue Wyandottes.hmmmmm And Yes Amy I love my house and my bit of land....But Boy would I love a Farm!!! Right now I have a miniature farm lol..

Shoot I am trying to talk DH into getting rid of goats and raising only ducks & chickens on the farm. He don't like that idea

There's about 10 acres there....6-8 is fenced for pasture. That is where his 17 birds are ........

Our house is in different county than farm....and only on an acre. About half of that is wooded. We are clearing it off slowly back there...it is downhill so nothing else to do with it other than keep some chickens and a few ducks

I counted to 30 different chicken breeds and then I quit counting. That's not counting individual colors of each breed. Hmmmm.....do I win the "crazy chicken addict" award?

Come on people, I know somebody out there can do better than 30.

Yep, chickens are a problem. I have close to 200 now and am adding in for the breeding pens we are building. Thankfully we have lots of space but my husband doesn't "get" chickens and thinks it's all a bit strange! He likes them fine but my kids make fun of him because he doesn't know their names, can't tell the breeds.... my 6-yr old daughter knows WAYYY more than him! But since he pays the bills, we humor him! Now I have to check my auctions... I'm determined to win one of them tonight!

I am not counting them yet- they have not hatched........but possibly adding..... black copper marans, blue copper marans, mottled bantam cochin, BLRW

which are all in the bator and developing nicely

OH yeah....... there's also :

3 horses
30 goats ( I think - maybe 5 less or 5 more)
2 turkeys
6 dogs
2 rabbits
9 ducks
14 quail (maybe....IDK just a rough guess - not many though - no more than 17 I think.)
at least 1 fish (DD's angel fish is about 7 yrs old now)

Other animals may be added or subtracted as DD finds them and relocates or helps/heals them.

Want to guess what my DD is going to college for?

Of course she still is working on her general classes right now. Hopes to transfer Fall '11 or Spring '12

Congrats Kimberly - I think placing anything, anytime is great! And especially for your first try. I'm sure you learned a lot, and made a lot of contacts to get more show quality stock. Glad I could be of help in getting your addiction started!

I'm hatching more millies right now....just in case you want a mate for your one baby.

Huckleberry - my six year old son knows the different breeds of chickens too. It's funny to watch him rattle on with adults who are amazed how much he can tell them. Just ask Amy Nadine, he hopped out of the car at her house and started telling me what she had. "She has white silkies Mom!" LOL We had to have a white silkie chick, who by the way is doing great and has to be a hen. That little chick wants nothing more than to take care of the babies in her box. She flew out of her box the other night and I found her in the tiny bantam baby box, very carefully covering white old english chicks that were only 2 days old. And they are maybe 3 inches tall when first hatched. She does a great job, we love her!
