Taking the horse and running away for this beautiful weekend....leaving DH in charge of chick patrol....hope he paid attention to what I told him!

I will be making my grow out pen monday...then the chicks that are in the coop brooder will go in it and the ones in the brooder in laundry room can go into coop brooder...then my house will be empty of chicks...well at least for the time being, you just never know!

I hope you are better today, Kimberly!

This weather is too nice for you to be stuck in the house sick. Your poor family is missing all this great weather, too.
They are saying we may hit 75 today!

Oh, to have a week or 2 of those temps with just a gentle breeze.....

I have about 4 pen projects going on at once. I so badly want to get these done. I have moved part of my floor brooder chicks out to the new Muscovy pen but they will have to go somewhere when the Muscovy are delivered. I have the posts up to make the baby coop pen bigger.
I have to finish the dog kennel pen, all 4 duck breeding pens are still in the works and that one tractor I am in the middle of trying to finish up. Looks like another trip to Lowes in imminent.

So much to do....so little time!

Thanks for The Hay Rack info. My youngest has been hounding me to get him a baby duck. Why a duck, I dont know? I've tried to convince him that it's a chicken he really wants, but he insists a duck. I'm the one with the chicken fever!! Silkie Fever..........Nikki

They will get ducks in at a later date.
I think your youngest is one smart cookie! Ducks are delightful! I will try to hatch some out later this spring myself. My ducks have been faithful layers through the winter and now I am getting 10 eggs a day from 19 girls. Once they gear up I suppose I will be freezing a bunch of Quiche and making eggs for supper every night!

But I do love my ducklies!

Yes, today was beautiful but I didn't get to enjoy it! My son brought the flu home last week and had it for 9 days. Then my husband got it and now my daughter and I have it. It's everywhere here. Much more than usual. We never get sick! I'm on day 5 of a fever. If you have to leave your farm, wear a mask!

On the plus side, my husband and sister spent the day working on 6 permanent breeding pens for me. Each one is about 10' x 24' and will have it's own door and be 7' high. I'm super excited! I've had my lav silkies growing in a coop but they don't have a run yet, so we're doing that too. My little chicken empire is looking so pretty!

Looks like a great weekend. Enjoy!

Now, see, if you only associate with your chickens you don't get sick.

Kidding! I know you have to talk to the 2 legged kids at some point. Mine is a teenager so she doesn't think it is cool to talk to Mom much right now.

I really hope I do not get sick because there is no one to take care of the farm. I had the flu once and never plan to have it again! We seldom ever get the sniffles so I hope our immune system is good but the viruses mutate so much we may get hit one day.

And why is it when the weather is so beautiful that you are sick? Blast! These are the days to get excited about chickens.

Susanne, you are so lucky to have a family that loves you enough to build for you! Geez, I am happy when DH will even do more than tell me what I need to do!

He is supportive but not very energetic.

All of you get better soon! The weather is going to turn crappy again soon.
