South Carolina

My Anatolian shepherd, Kota, and my bobtailed tuxedo cat, Butler, with a silkie/oegb chick.
That is so cute! I've tried to get pictures of the dogs with ours, but one wants to eat them and the other doesn't care to be around them.
Update on how the 3 year old rooster tastes: we let him age in the fridge around 5 days, left him in the crock pot with broth and seasoning allll day yesterday. The result? Tender, extremely dark meat that tastes almost exactly like roast beef! He's delicious!
Awesome news! My aggro roo is meeting his maker today. Thinking about harvesting one hen along with him for a taste comparison (same age). When you fridge age him, was it in contact with water/brine?

OH Please send positive vibes my way...
one of my SLbantam polish was dead in the traitor. All was acting good, ran to home depot, came home to fix the fan in the large coop and it was dead. No warning.
I think its Coccidios but not sure I'm treating for it. and treating for a few other things.
I have one other one that acts a little odd, wings hangin low. (think its a pullet)

Here's the others they are WAY full of life but still gettting treated

This Im pretty sure is a roo, but it has a weak head dress

My other roo he's so curious.

My healthy hen I'm loving these little chicks, I have waited a long long time for them.

My dog piper and EE comet looking in on the SLbantampolish chicks

Loving his head dress so far, they are only like 8wks old.

Here's the sick chick that I PRAY will be ok.

Yancy, I had nothing but trouble with Cocci when I had my Polish. Make sure they are drinking the water if that is how you are administering the medicine. I had to start giving mine some water by a syringe to make sure they were drinking it. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks and yes I have a 1cc syringe that I'm giving little doses to the sick chick.

Moonchild - those are so beautiful. I can't imagine how disheartening it must have been when you returned to find one dead. I hope things look up from here for you and you babies.

Nope, no water or brine. Had what was left of him today with brown gravy, fried okra, and fresh tomatoes, all grown by us. It's a good feeling to eat a meal in which you know how everything in it was grown/raised! I just can't get over how his meat tasted. Didn't resemble chicken at all. Exactly like roast beef. And how dark it was! Almost like wild pheasant meat. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious.

Just not what I'm used to chicken looking and tasting like.

We got our first pullet egg yesterday and another one today. The eggs were small, 38 grams and 40 grams. Our girls are 17 1/2 weeks old.

I'm not sure if it's the same pullet or two different ones. One had started singing and two of them have been doing the dance for about two weeks.

One of the others started singing today. Hopefully we will have 5 layers very soon.
