There are a couple of hatcheries that carry true Ameraucanas. My Pet Chicken is one of them.

I have seen the birds sold by My Pet Chicken and they would be considered culls by most who breed to the Standard. The close up of the blue pullet/hen they are showing on their site is completely lacking any beard and the muffs are single gene. The profile picture shows a bird that does not resemble what the standard describes as a pure Ameraucana.

Anyone looking for pure Ameraucanas will get much better quality by buying direct from a proven breeder, who breeds to the Standard. Those can be found by looking at the breeder's directory on the Ameraucana Breeders Club website, http://www.ameraucana.org

Or...just ask here :) There are several reputable breeders of quality Ameraucanas right here in SC.

And I hope to be one of the one day. I have about 100 adult chickens, and 85 of them are hatchery quality. They are great pets, reliable layers, and big sellers. This has been my first year with breeder quality birds, and I am in love. As my other flocks age out, their pens will be replaced with the offspring of the AMs, but there's nothing wrong with backyard birds for pets and eggs. I'm just getting enthralled with watching these birds grow, reproduce, and learning about genetics. That's one thing I like about BYC, it's a place where all chicken owners can get information, whether they are breeding, or just enjoy getting eggs

From what little I have learned that's true with all other breeds as well.

Ill buy straight run, I don't mind...how much a piece? I guess I'll take 3 to hopefully get at least one pullet.

My BCM hen is laying, two pullets should be laying in 2 months or less, and then a batch of babies from jenny's eggs....BUT...my chicks from jenny's stock have WHITE FEET. I'm not happy about it, I'm throwing the hens in with the Roo I bought from you to make Olive eggers, and will be setting my own genetic stock from now on...the ones from my roo and hen hatched out GORGEOUSLY and I'm really excited about how the turn out, so far they are colored wonderfully and really look like nice birds.
