South Carolina

This is from my Anatolian breeder:

"Once the puppy has reached 50 lb of body weight, you can use 1% liquid ivermectin at a rate of 0.01ml per 10 lb of body weight (that's 0.1ml per 100 lb adult) during cooler months (Oct thru April). During the hotter months (May thru Sept), you should increase it to 0.1ml per 10 lb of body weight (1ml for a 100+ lb adult) -- 1ml is the maximum amount you should ever give. This safe and very cost effective product will prevent heartworms and kill most other intestinal worms, except for tapeworms. You can get liquid ivermectin at most Feed & Seed Stores or Tractor Supply outlets."

And welcome to our SC thread! I am a few miles from the NC border, too. I can see the mountains (Hogback) of NC from my deck. So pretty.

Be that as it may...I think paying $150 for the dog's shots and check-up should bring a prescription at no extra cost. You may carry the product, but charging $12 for a prescription negates the cost savings offered up through a purchase on-line. That's one way to assure we buy the product from the vet...kind of a consumer manipulation. Lastly, for the one line scribbles I've seen on a prestamped prescription slip...it doesn't take that long to write one up. Pitiful.

The misters make my birds happier and more comfortable to heck with making more humidity, mother nature makes more of that when it rains especially those 10 minute rain showers in the middle of the afternoon. I am really not worried about that, the mister I have really doesn't use that much water, less than washing a car, or watering the garden and if its in the shade it doesn't evaporate that fast.

I think it's a great idea!! I'm going to run outside and hook mine up to~ that seemed to have been forgotten about behind some lawn furniture! I wonder what the girls will think when I first put it out there~ they'll probably run until their curiousity peaks!

I bought my avian netting off of ebay and I've been very happy with it. It's been out there for 6 years now and it's holding up great. Ebay was cheaper than the other mail order companies when I bought mine.

That's where I saw the best deals and was thinking about buying from. Thanks for the tip!

Ivermectin is used to prevent heartworms. Just do not use it on collie or collie mixes. A lot of people use it instead of the medication through a vet but there are benefits to using vet supplied meds. Usually if your pet comes up positive for heartworms on a product and you've been on a product throug a vet the company who makes the product will pay to treat your animal. There are also excellent flea and heartworm combo meds out now. I use trifexis on my dogs. Kills fleas dead in 30 minutes all month long, kills parasites, prevents heartworms

I'm a Licensed Vet tech & agree 100% with what you said

Trifexis is a GREAT new product. And the companies will cover the cost of treatment if an animal happens to come up positive (has only happened 1 time in the 5 yrs I've been where I work)
