Wish us luck as we retrain the girls as to where they need to roost. When we mounted their nest box, it turned out that the roost in front of the second row of boxes was a little higher than the ones we built for the chickens. Now, I know that was a BIG mistake. Lou Ann and I had already decided to lower the boxes, mainly because we have BO's and I didn't want to risk them injuring a leg flying down. Last weekend we took the nest boxes and just placed them on the floor (they are 2 on 2), thinking the girls would go to the roosts since they were now higher. Nope. They are still crowding themselves on the boxes. Since they have another ten weeks before they will start to think about laying, I guess they are losing some boxes altogether today. I think we may reconfigure their roosts, but we need to see them on them first, to see if we need to. Stubborn birds!
