Wish us luck as we retrain the girls as to where they need to roost. When we mounted their nest box, it turned out that the roost in front of the second row of boxes was a little higher than the ones we built for the chickens. Now, I know that was a BIG mistake. Lou Ann and I had already decided to lower the boxes, mainly because we have BO's and I didn't want to risk them injuring a leg flying down. Last weekend we took the nest boxes and just placed them on the floor (they are 2 on 2), thinking the girls would go to the roosts since they were now higher. Nope. They are still crowding themselves on the boxes. Since they have another ten weeks before they will start to think about laying, I guess they are losing some boxes altogether today. I think we may reconfigure their roosts, but we need to see them on them first, to see if we need to. Stubborn birds!

They would sure look good in a pen next to those Buff Cochins!

I really like them and the gold laced, but I don't have anywhere to put them. DH is making pens for the quail and he wont build for anything else until this spring

There were a LOT of OEGs. DD brought home a brown red trio. ( I think that is what variety ......

Bummer! We are trying to get BB Reds and Brown Red!

there were a LOT there. A pair of BB Red caught her eye right off, but they sold before she could decide if she wanted them or not. Right now it looks like we will be heading to the OE jamboree show - she wants to finish picking out her breeder birds.

I hear ya on the stove up... we were too.. we should have a fall harvest BBQ and party for everyone to swap chicken stories and then we would know everyone...

You keep talking cookout and Im gonna have to volunteer my little hole in the woods! Hey maybe all us chickens fanatics in one place will scare away my hawk?!

I had so much fun! It was a great day. I didn't even mind the drive because I had a great friend to talk with the whole time.
The weather was wonderful, except for a few times we had to chase the big umbrella. It was just starting to get hot as we loaded up to come home.
I won a 3 gallon waterer in the raffle. That was awesome. Washed it this morning and have it in use.
It was fun being parked between Kimberly and Debra.
I didn't get to talk as much as I would have hoped and I didn't get to shop any at all. I was too busy selling and trotting back and forth to the raffle table. I put in a pair of birds for that.

Thank you Kimberly, for letting us follow you up! And all the great help you and your family did for me!

I think we had a fabulous turnout. I think I heard over 200 where there but I can't say for sure how many since it was pretty busy the whole 4 or 5 hours we were there.
I sold all my grown ducks, all my LF roos, most of my Cochins, no one bought Guineas or my Porcelain d'Uccles. I had a few requests I took up for people that they bought.
I wish I could have seen what all was for sale but it was just too busy and Jackie did a lot of selling for me! And then Kimberly and Nicole jumped in to help, too! It was really wonderful, thank you all!!

This is when we first got there and the sun was not bad.....

This was after a few hours ... we had to put up shade but it wasn't too bad with the good breeze.
You can see Jackie standing there taking a break and looking for another potential customer and Debra sitting on her tailgate.

And the wonderful BYC banner! We never did get everyone under it for a photo. There is no way we would have seen the banner!

And this is 2 of the 3 I brought home. Debra bought the roo that went with them but was offered more so she sold him again.

I had a great time. I wish more of you all could have come. It was fast and exciting and I was happy with all that I sold.

Thank you, Jackie, for helping me put up birds when I got home.

5 years of prednisone really wreaked havoc on me physically. I know when I got my license renewed last time I cried all the way home from the DMV because it did not look a thing like me. I started looking older about 5-7 years ago. I remember when I was 35-38 and still looked like I was in my twenties. Now I am 42 and look like I am in my 50s!

ETA: I have dropped 36lbs in the past year. Made my day to have to keep pulling up those shorts that I could not even get on last summer. Todd has lost 50lbs in 3-4 years

Well, that burst my bubble. I have only lost 8 lbs in the past month. I am usually going up but finally have started back down.

I did hear you complaining about those shorts! Glad to hear you have lost so much!

And I can't believe Todd ever weighed so much. I know Terry is worried since he is on prednisone right now. He can't afford to gain anymore.

I do understand--I don't think they will leave here anytime soon and that is ok!
