Those bantam cochins are great layers, get ready as she will most likely give you plenty more. Of course, mine are also great sitters so if you want her to hatch some for you, just let them pile up for a bit and she'll start sitting on them. I have 7 bantam cochins and 6 of them are sitting together in 2 nest boxes.

Moved my chick into a brooder this am. Was trying to wait on the other to hatch but gosh the second is already 24 hours behind and counting! And I don't want little Quincy to feel his first hunger pains. Hehe. So just the one egg in the bator waiting on it to finally hatch all the way. And Quincy now has food and water and some shavings to sleep on and not wire

I go out this morn to do my morning chicken head count and my Grey/blue? silkie decides to let out a full crow...another roo....ahhhhhhhh! That makes 5 of 8 chickens confirmed roos with 2 still questionable chicks!! I need hens or I am gonna have to find homes for some roos! I know which 2 I will let go atleast!!! So if anyone wants a silkie roo just let me know!LOL

That is the thing about Silkies, a lot of folks don't know if they have a boy or girl until it lays an egg or crows! Them Silkies is sneaky that way!

Yesterday when Jackie's co-worker and friends were here to buy chickens, the Porcelain d'Uccles decided to crow. They were amazed that those tiny little birds could be so loud. Yeah, hard to convince people they make great pets when they belt it out like that.

Heidi, my keets are doing wonderfully.
Jackie, you got 3 right? Two were Royal Purples and the other still looks Coral Blue to you?

I almost let my 9 week old Pearl keets out today with the hope that with the lavs still up in the coop cage that they would stick close but they would not let me catch them to get them out so that plan was a failure. I would love to let them out to be in the pen outside and come into the coop when they wanted or hopefully at night but now am thinking I may put them all out in the trampoline pen.
Being only about 2 months old I figure they won't lay until next year anyhow and I really only have an Araucana pullet in that pen. A roo keeps getting in with her so I figure she must be lonely. I need to put her somewhere else but I don't think I will sell her and figure she will just wind up free ranging with the big flock. She is laying pretty blue eggs so even if the keets were to start laying this fall I could tell the difference.
But Guineas don't start laying in December, do they? I figure they will wait til March or April, depending on temps.
