hey dixiebeast ... we got our first Polish egg.. its soooo cute and tiny not sure which girl laid it but yeahhhhh...

Thanks yall...I got running late because I got distracted when I was turning them and decided to get out the flashlight and I saw viens in the three I looked at!! I was soooo excited !! Its been a long week at work but I know that now I made the mistake I will be too worried to do it again!!

Pink...congrats on the polish egg!! I wish my self blue would lay!! I have gotten 3 eggs in 4 days from my D'uccle gal plus the one she laid in transit(its in bator)...I will set the others tomorrow night!!

Pink...I am soo happy for you and...hoping the Polish that gave the egg is from the same guy I got mine from cause it made me more optomistic! LOL

Can anyone give me an idea how long a hen hatched chick will hide under the mother? I want to leave them alone but... I also want to get my hands on them...LOL Everytime I try to sneak up she "growls" and they run under her! LOL She brought them to the floor yesterday into a dark corner under the nesting area and stays there with them inches away from her!

Pink...what did she nest in and was it on the ground or elevated? And how high is the coop? I have mine in a 4x8x4ft tall tractor and numerous roost places but just a square bucket in the darker weather protected corner to nest. Mine roost as high as they can get to in that.

ok so it was time to do my evening egg turn and my son wanted to see the viens I saw this morn so I pulled out the lil d"uccle egg and put the light under it ....with the bathroom light on...more viens and a heartbeat!!! I didnt know you could actually see a lil red beating spot,esp so soon...and it is a big change since this morn so I feel better about the temp drop!! WOW is all I can say( This only took half a min to show him and so worth the cool factor)

Now I will only turn eggs until day 10...got to resist the flashlight!!!! GOSH THIS IS SOOO HARD!!! I AM TOO EGGCITED!!!
