I enjoyed the show but did not buy anything. Several people were looking for silkies and not a single one for sale.

Hopefully made a contact to get some nice birds.
I learned a lot just listening to Kim and Amy. These two ladies are the chicken gurus for the state.
Jackie got some gorgeous birds. Nice Birthday presents.

Someone needs to start knitting booties with chicks on them.

Wish I could knit.

Jackie!!!! Congrats on the birds and the amazing news! So happy for you.

People wanted silkies and there weren't any? I should have gotten my act together. I could have brought 30 or so beauties! OhN well! Next show!

Amy, could it be Nantahala Farm? In Topton, NC? The people with that website have what looks to be very nice Dominique birds.

No, that is not the ones I know. But I have heard of the ones you are talking about. Just can't remember why. Maybe my friend bought some from them a few years ago and that is where I heard it.

I got a pair of 8 week old black giant cochins and a trio of Mille fleur d'anvers!!! What an awesome birthday pressie to go to a chicken show!

And I also found out I'm expecting my own little chick to hatch in July. Eek!

Love those d'Anvers you bought!! And naturally, the Cochins! Great presents to yourself. The Smokin' Pig was fabulous food and the company was the BEST!!!!

And who wouldn't love the little bundle that you are expecting your own self next summer.

How wonderful!!! congrats

I was in love with two pair of fawn duckwing OEGB. They were totally gorgeous!!
But I resisted the urge to ask the price so I would not buy them. They were super eye appealing to me and I could have put them about anywhere since they were so small but I am good about holding back.
Fortunately I did not take DH because he wanted to buy some birds today! He told Kimberly this morning he wanted to go so he could buy some more birds. Geez! There is no telling what we would have come home with!

I did spark an interest in Cornish though after seeing some being shown. I am not sure that I will get the bantam ones but I will research them and maybe get some for next spring.

I was really surprised and a bit disappointed at the show.. not as many breeds as I expected. just a couple of white silkies ONE frizzel molted Cochin, no show girls , no polish of any varitiy, now granted what was there were all beautiful but I wanted More..

Im gonna have to keep my ears and eyes open for standard chicken shows too..

My mom did find another breed she really liked.. the White Japs.. oh my they were wonderful.. and I love their little bitty legs, they kind of shuffle around..

How exciting, a new little chickie all your own. You won't be having any time for chickens next year, or the next few years either.

But in a few years you'll have your very own helper. I'd be lost without my boys.
