I had a 6 month old black copper Marans pullet to recently start laying. I let the pen out every day to free range since they out grew the tractor but she went right back into the tractor, up the ramp and she faithfully lays her eggs there every day. A nice super dark brown egg. I try to breed only for those dark layers. I would share a photo but I sold out of eggs yesterday and hers was certainly big enough to go in the cartons even though she is a new laying pullet. Makes me feel good when my breeding program gives me what I work hard to produce.

You do not want to start with puppies. It will be almost 2 years before those dogs would do you any good.
Try the rescue in NC. They can pair you up some nice dogs for the farm and yard.
I would be lost without my Jolie Oli O! That is the BEST dog! Thank you again, my wonderful friend Karen.

Oh man! I really like those. And I love your field that they are in. Oh, to have mowed grass.....
Those are some nice turkeys. I hope you sell them and get the price you want. DH wants turkeys so badly and I won't let him get any. We do not eat turkey.

I have an awsome dog also...he will eat my chickens first chance but he is why nothing else gets a chance...he is an old man though(over 12) so we are thinking of a pup to raise with him but also with the chickens so maybe we will get a dog like him but not a chicken eater! LOL

Yeah! Mine is about to work me and DH to death wanting to get this house in decent shape. OMG! I hate housework! I stay outside more and more to avoid her overbearing house work regime! She had DH mopping the floor at 10 pm last night! And has a long list of chores for us all to do today. Geez! I created a monster!

I did not eat turkey either, I have always hated turkey, until I ate one of ours.
