I had a 6 month old black copper Marans pullet to recently start laying. I let the pen out every day to free range since they out grew the tractor but she went right back into the tractor, up the ramp and she faithfully lays her eggs there every day. A nice super dark brown egg. I try to breed only for those dark layers. I would share a photo but I sold out of eggs yesterday and hers was certainly big enough to go in the cartons even though she is a new laying pullet. Makes me feel good when my breeding program gives me what I work hard to produce.
