Our hot water heater went out late Wednesday night, no way to get elements for it until Friday morning. And that did not fix it.

Had to go buy a new hot water heater - by the time it was installed, it was going to be too late to wash birds. So we didn't install that until Saturday morning.

(Honestly it was not just the hot water heater. It was the safety switch which we found out late Friday night - so had to work on that too)

Just too much hassle to wash them in the sink instead of the tub.

No matter what, I am signed up for Barnwell show! Even if I have to wash birds in the creek!

Sulmet liquid form since that is easier. I give 2 tablespoons a gal. for 2 days. You can give a smaller dose for the following few days if you are seeing a problem or give it twice a week, which is what I have been doing and getting great results. So mine get it 4 days a week, if I suspect a problem. I haven't had to give it to ones old enough that lay but yeah, I would not eat the eggs if I had to give it to them. They are usually not laying if they are sick enough to need it. But I am allergic to the Sulmet so I certainly could not eat the eggs.

I do not mind questions. We all like to know what each other does to keep their chickens happy and healthy.

I buy mine on line since I keep so much in stock. But I also find it at The Hay Rack in Landrum. They keep it stocked.

Just realized as this is the first heavy rain that half my coop is flooding...do they make waders in chicken size?

At least I can see the prob and it will be an easy fix with my friends tractor....

as for the rest of the yard...no hope....

Why is it as soon as I walk outside to feed it starts pouring, come back in and it stops? It's a conspiracy! Maybe SOMEONE thinks my birds eat too much already!

I have 3 pens and the dog left to feed, not to mention all the coops to close up. It is raining goats and coo coo birds!

Amy thanks for answering my questions. I havent had a problem but Im writing down the information in my chicken information book I've started. It has been raining off and on here since 8 this morning. All the chickens are nice and dry in there coops but I think I'll need my mud shoes to feed tomorrow. We have not seen this much rain in a while.

It was raining so hard that my girls gave up trying to find a cozy place on the porch and went back to their sopping wet coop! Poor things... I leave them penned up for a week, I get home and it's disgusting rainy out. I bet they can't wait til Thursday, whatever the temperature!
