Another SC member here! My name is Amy and I am looking into getting some chickens for my family. Actually, I've been looking into it for about 3 years now but haven't gotten the nerve up to do it yet. Right now I live in a neighborhood (In what was supposed to be our starter home) and have been hoping that we would be able to move at some point but with real estate being what it is- it looks like we might be stuck here for awhile. So I've got .22 acres of a little slice of heaven in the heart of Boiling Springs (near Spartanburg) to try out my chicken skills. I am just wondering if it is doable or am I crazy for trying? I also have 4 kids (ages 9, 4, 3, and 1) and husband that travels for work so I worry that I might get in over my head. Help! Advice please! Honestly, I would love to visit someone with chickens to see how it all works- I've got books and read websites but its' hard for me to translate caring for chickens in real life vs what is in the books. Does that make sense? I'm probably overanalyzing it all too much at this point.

Funny thing is I go by Nadine here on the BYC but my name is Amy as well. I was just hoping I wouldn't get into as much trouble as when my mother called me Amy Nadine!

Hey everybody. How about lets plan a chicken swap at my new feed store. It is located right off highway 25 at the corner of greenville, anderson, and laurens county in Honea Path. I can advertise it to the locals and possibly could get some publicity for BYC.

Hi Country Preacher,

It seems the most I have to sell is roos. I sell a lot every weekend and have to watch I don't sell all my hens.
I only have EE's and Black Copper or Blue Copper Marans for sale at this time, maybe a few Araucanas but everything is in roos.
I wait to sell any hens for people wanting some good layers and they have a chance to see what I have for sale and I can get a feel of what they really want and how they will care for them. It may be a business for me but I also try not to just sell to just make money but rather to make people happy.
