Nope, Enola, I am not using one of my own. Luann hatches for me.
I live near the grain mill and when I go over to pick up chicks from her and take more eggs for hatching I take her a load of grain from the mill so that way we each get something. But I am going to buy an incubator in a few months as soon as I decide which one. My hens are sitting on eggs and do all year long but they can't handle the volume I hatch out. I have 3 brooders now with about 40-50 chicks and am still hatching. Four hens are sitting on eggs and some of those were hatching last night.
I can't keep chicks! People buy everything I have. I am hording these because they are for my Mille Fleur Cochin project. But even then, serious project people want them! LOL I am not complaining. It is fun.
I am trying not to get too far over 300 but with this spring coming up I am sure I will be adding more pens!

Me too! We finally have our first chicks. 11 silkies and they are too cute! I'm expecting 10 eggs this week that are sizzles and frizzles and then I have about 15 day-old chicks coming in about 10 days. Whew....

By the way, I'd love to get some cochin frizzles if anyone has any or knows someone who does. Also a polish frizzle.

Doesn't have to be a chick. A little older is okay too! I'm in Greenwood County.

I think Betsy at Renegade Ridge Farm in Chester may have some Frizzles or Sizzles. If not, she is at least working on breeding them.
I am about to put my buff/blue Silkie roo with my buff Cochin hens for eggs. My Frizzles and my one Sizzle are sitting on eggs right now so they aren't laying.
This Silkie roo has been waiting on ladies for almost 2 years. He looks excited at the prospect!
