I think a couple of my hens are laying but I have yet to find where. I have 1 setting on eggs, 1 sitting on golf balls and 1 with 7 banty babies. That leaves 3 that should be laying but well I wish I could find the eggs. I have 10 that should be laying soon, and a whole bunch that aren't old enough yet. I'll try to get pics today.

I am finding the same thing. I have only one customer that loves the blue or green eggs. However, I have several that are excited to see what my Olive Eggers will produce and one that loves the pink eggs from my Rocks. It makes for nice cartons though! New customers always get an assortment carton and then I find what color they like and try to make that the most they get.

You know you are welcome anytime, Enola!

Karen,
I bet they are under a bush somewhere. A whole pile of eggs! Or maybe they lay them under a bush and the possums are getting them? Maybe not with your dogs out there.

Is it one of your bantam hens with all the banty chicks?
Did the EE hens go broody on you? I haven't had any of mine to go broody but yours are sisters or moms to mine. I can't remember when you got them from me. Was that just last summer? Surely we met before then!

You are getting up in numbers on your chickens! LOL I knew you would catch the fever!

Yes its a banty hen with her banty babies. We ate the big roo, he was beating up the hens and almost squashed one of the banties so I have a baby roo, and Andy that I got From Matt.

One hen convinced them to lay in the slats of the pallet holding my hay and there's I think 13 under her,

all but 1 with veining as of Friday night. I have total about 40 chickens now.

The EE hens haven't gone broody, they just aren't laying just my banties who think they are incubators

. Silly birds, I need to build an addition to my coup. lol

Yesterday we were stripping the floor of the run and moving the coup a bit and I Fired all 5 of the cats. The chickens are better mousers than the cats. That was waayy more intertaining than watching tv.

Hey to everyone in SC! I am so new I haven't got my everything together to even build my coop yet. But I have a great backyard with lots of buggies for some chickens to work on. I am looking for 4-5 chickens, pullets preferably and buff orpingtons, EE, and silver laced wydanettes at that. Let me know if you have what I'm looking for or have a reputable source as I want to buy local.

Thanks! Jackie

Jackie,

I may have some of what you are looking for. I have sold a lot of my birds that I needed to this year but might can let a few more go. I live a few miles from Greenville, just north of Greer.
I am still hatching a good many chicks and have chicks and chickens in all ages. I had gotten well over 400 and then DH lost his job so I started cutting back. The longer he is out of work the more I keep cutting back.

I have a few buff Orpington pullets but they are only 2 months old. Not on lights anymore but still inside the brooder room at night. I may have sold all my SLW chicks, I will have to check my books. So many people pay me to hold them and then I have to remember I can't sell those! I am not sure that I will have any EE chicks after this weekend because I have someone coming to get some and they may want all I have left.
You are welcome to visit the farm and see the birds and set ups that I have.

anyone ever been to Dixie Stockyard??? just wondering if anyone around upstate has ever been...LOADS of chickens there...can buy or sale
