South Carolina

Hope everyone had a Great Holiday!

Hatch Update...9 out of 11 last week, 7 out of 9 Christmas Eve (Day)! Have 2 more hatches going, one for New year's and one a week later. Most of my girls are now broody, so no more hatching for a few weeks!

From what I can see, I have several blues and one definite chocolate, plus a couple blacks...We'll see what they look like in a few weeks! I'm still saying nightly Pullet Prayers!

OH...No snow here in Charleston, only a cold rain!

Hey Juliette! You'll have to let me know if that chocolate turns out to be a smooth cockeral. I ended up with five chicks from Sunshine and Domino, only one turned out frizzle. I'm thinking there's three boys and two girls. They're living in an aquarium on the dining room table, haha. I can't wait to see the pics of your new babies on your page!

How neat that you got snow in Aiken!

We have about 4" here. It was a chore walking through it this morning to do all the tractors and let out all the birds. But it was FUN!

On a bad note, some dogs got into my fence and tried digging under the tractors and ran around barking at a bunch of my birds in tractors. Where the H E double toothpicks my LGD was during all this I have no idea! When DH spotted her when he ran through the house after his gun the LGD was meandering around the pasture. She should have been able to hear those dogs barking and the chickens squawking. Don't know what is going on there but no birds were harmed. The dogs had tore down my hog wire AGAIN in the back pasture to get in and I have stopped warning the owner.
I probably won't get eggs for a week now!

Our Flock's First SNOW!!! Our 4 mo old lab, Bailey's first experience with it too! She's grown up with half of our girls and they get along so well.

Then After all well NOT all the girls went to the coop...I had two Orps trapped by snow...They had found a path around the yard, but there is a 30foot snowy patch they just couldn't cross haha!!.. So being the good dad...I went and picked them up and carried them to the coop...Spoiled i say!

Sounds like everyone had a great Christmas and enjoyed the snow! We enjoyed it here, the horses loved it, llamas and chickens hated it but we all survivied!

I hope everyone had a very merry christmas and has enjoyed the snow. The homemade bator that i made is holding temp at 99.1 and 50% humidity so I am ready for some eggs. Thanks let me know what you guys got and where to get them. I would like to set some new years weekend!! E

You know where to find me, Eric! I've got a dozen for you so far: 7 green (EEs), 1 white (exchequer leghorn), 1 cream (white silkie), and 3 brown eggs (either blue cochin mix, cuckoo marans mix, barred rock mix, or blue laced red wyandotte, lol). Also have two serama eggs, could be frizzled! I'll be around next weekend.

Beth
