LOL Luckily her having the flu has helped with detox! She was miserable already so missing caffeine just blended right in

I have been smoking for yearssssssssssssss. Quit several times. "Cold Turkey" every time too. I really only miss it in the mornings - which I have missed my coffee in the mornings this week anyway - and after certain meals. We have 7up in the fridge right now, along with Gatorade and apple juice

She & I are going to try to limit ourselves to caffeine occasionally with a meal. Not more than once a day. I miss my Sundrop already too......... guess I will be backsliding the first day I have a migraine or do not get enough sleep.

Well now, Folks,

I ain't convinced that caffeine is BAD.

I AM convinced that ALL thet-thar "soda-pop" IS BAD...too much sugar for your body. (I haven't drank any "soda-pop" in 20 years....and NOT MUCH before ...except when I was a "kid".) Thet stuff ain't as good fer ya as BEER ! (seriously...unless you are of "Indian-Descent" -so-called "Native Americans"....your genetics are much more attuned to the consumption of BEER than "soda-pop".) They say that "Gatorade" is GOOD for ya...It MUST BE....because it tastes terrible to me. Give me a glass of water and a FRESH "vine-ripened" tomato....Now that is TASTY! (even without the salt...which I've gotta leave alone..)

Of course...good, clean, WATER is the BEST beverage for your body...and tastes GOOD too. Quenches the thirst better than ANYTHING else. But don't bother with "bottled water". IF it needs filtering or purifying.....get the equipment to do it. That bottled water ain't no better than what you'll get from your City Water Dept....because that WHERE they get it !!!

Water, Beer, Coffee, Tea (various types), FRUIT JUICES !!, and...certainly an occasional whisky....

(There are more "Old Drunks" than there are "Old Doctors". Ha-Ha !!! )

Said with humor intended.......but essentially ACCURATE.

ALSO......smoking is BAD for you. YOUR CHOICE (don't start)....but I don't think the Gub-Mint should be telling you what to do. Especially by "over-taxing" things the Gub-Mint doesn't like. That's up to the individual.

BUT...IF they MUST...they should TAX "soda-pop" more than anything else.......OBESITY KILLS !!!

just a different opinion,

P.S. The ORIGINAL "Coca-Cola" had cocaine as an ingredient. No wonder it gave a "pick-me-up"! I wouldn't worry about the caffeine....WORRY about the SUGAR and Corn Syrup ingredients.

I agree that soda is bad. My dad lost a kidney when he came back from WWII and started working for the Coca Cola company. They gave them all they wanted to drink on the job (he was a mechanic) so dad did and had to have his kidney removed due to all the stones that formed and they could not get them out.
And since I seldom touch soda I can vouch that when I do drink one my kidney hurts. Of course, eating raw veggies caused me to have stones so I drink a gallon of water a day if I can and lots of 100% juice. I refuse to have surgery again.

I gave up cigarettes about 16 or 17 years ago but DH has COPD, asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema from 25 years of smoking. I am glad I only had the habit a few years.

On a happier note...those blue JG babies are adorable and I am so glad someone is having a ball with them. I seriously hope they are all girls. I tried so hard to pick out the girls!

I had lots of fun talking with everyone today. I was kept very busy but I think from now on everyone that visits will be required to pick up tools or paint rollers and get to work!

I will get all that work done in no time!

Dominicker - great grow out pen! You may as well start on the next one, you'll find hundreds of uses for small pens like that!

Doc Junkman - thanks for the advice, I'm drinking lots of fresh orange juice, grape juice and water. I'm from the south, but do not care for tea in any form. I agree with you on the water issue. I refuse to hook up to city water, we still use our well and I'm glad to have it. But they'd better not start taxing my soda pop! That's just plain mean

Nadine, I'm there with you. If everyone who came over (and stayed for an hour or three) would pick up a shovel, hammer etc. I could maybe catch up with my work. That's a great idea. Maybe even a "work for your chickens" program might be a good idea. So many hours of labor per dollar spent on birds:D I had someone come over (unexpectedly) and ended up spending over an hour with them and giving away 2 birds. Hmmmmm......at least they were roosters.

I did sit out in the fresh air and sunshine today and it sure did help me feel better. Hopefully we will have a few more days like this.

Joycats,

Not to "beat a dead horse" but you should really try a tea from "Celestial Seasonings" called "Red Zinger".

I think you would like it...tasty and FULL of good stuff. (Much healthier than "soda-pop".)

That's a GOOD IDEA about gettin' people to help with the Chicken Work. It's a Win-Win situation!

They help...you Win! They don't help and don't come back....You WIN!

It's a WIN either way!

GREAT IDEA !!!

Later on...if you still have them folks "comin' around"...you can require them to bring screws or nails or scrap wood or such-like.....

might lose a few more....but again... a Win-Win!

Ha-Ha !!!

(who hates to be "interrupted" when he's workin'....Ha-Ha !!! That's why I don't answer the cell-phone. I just carry it to see if it rings.)

Joy,

Thats actually what I have in mind. I've got a 4x4 rabbit hutch turned chicken coop and 29' of chain link fence for a run ready to be situated in the back yard. I've got 9 mutt babies from my first hatch experience that are almost fully feathered that are 3 weeks old, plus 12 black australorps & 3 black sexlinks in the bator, PLUS 6 (5 hens,1 roo) Delawares coming in from Privet Hatchery the 1st of March (which is when the BA & BSL babies will be hatching.....good timing huh??!?

).

At least with all these babies I'll have something "decent" to take to the meet-up in April, which I can't wait for that...

OH, if ya'll know of anyone looking for a quad of SLW, let me know. Got 3hens+1roo for sale ($10 each) OR TRADE for other large fowl...

Hello all! I can't wait til it stays warm all the time! I need two things.

I have 5 2-month old serama chicks that need homes. I'm *thisclose* to just giving them away. 1 frizzle roo, two smooth roos, and two smooth hens. Very small, very cute!

And two, I need wooden apple crates. The sturdy ones, not the little flimsy ones.

I would much appreciate any help for either request!

Beth
