SC Chicken Swap

Thanks Amy for my 4 new babies! I think my DH was just shocked at your set up. He lectured me the whole way home: 'Now just b/c she has so many chickens, don't you be thinkin' that's gonna work for us". Ha. Right. Thanks again for having us and let me know about those cochins. And I'm great with a paint roller, just not so much with a hammer. Bad aim...

Awww! Jackie, I don't use nails. I am sure you could use the drill as I use Phillips head decking screws on about everything! (My last name is Phillips!)

And you saw those big sheets of plywood that need painting, I figure some dust mops tied to our feet would get the job done in a hurry!

I have peach color paint and baby blue for them and my smaller coop for the new dog kennel pen is going to be a burnt orange with gray trim. You saw all the boards painted gray!

Glad you and hubby could make it. It was nice visiting with you again and showing you all the cuties. I am glad you got a nice quad and those chicks that hatch from them are going to be great.
I will let you know as soon as some of those big Cochins hatch. I can't wait to see what beautiful colors come out.
And thank you for the referral. Your friend emailed me today so I will see if I can't make her happy, too.

Miss Kimberly, you need to come by! I could have filled up the bed of the truck!

I posted this on another forum and copy and pasted here. I might get in trouble with double posting, but in my defense, please accept my apology. It was rather long and just wanted to share some interesting news. Again please forgive me if I get in trouble.

ok Listen to this. I am a middle school science teacher in North Carolina, and one of my previous students (in high school now) went to the regional science fair. What is so special about that you ask? Well her project was on hatching times of chicken eggs. Again not so special right? Well to make a long story short, she placed several eggs in panty hose, and some not, and incubated together. All eggs were from same hen and everything. It was a plain old hovabator type incubator. After 15 days, she took the eggs out of the panty hose and continued as normal. This was done several times, and low and behold, the eggs that started out in the hose hatched a full day early (day 20) each time. Cool I thought. After the science fair, she did the experiment again and same results. It was also discovered that eggs that were, or had a slight crack in them, were not affected by the crack. Just thought I would share some cool things that our kids from our state is doing in school. Plus I wanted to brag about one of my former students. But how cool is that. Next time I have some eggs to incubate, I am going to try this for myself.
