for the cloudy rainy weather! We have been cutting down some trees in the back the past couple of days. I am T-I-R-E-D and S-O-R-E!

I have had to resort to CAFFEINE

or I would have just curled up on a log and slept!

Now I have to go feed chickens, get DD to class, and do a few other family errands.

I guess I will rest when I get home

Sometime today I need to check our Marans bator - we had a total of 34 eggs set in it.......I need to check to see how many did not hatch.
I think less than 5 of what hatched were clean legged.......rest are feather. And I have 2 yellow chicks out of that bunch!

I also have a BLRW that has hatched in the other bator!

READ the "stuff" on the adapter...Then find that old "portable phone" (not cell-phone) that you forgot to throw away and see if it is the same.
Use it.

might work.

Incubator Update: I found many adapters in my junk drawer, even one with the same specs. Plugged it in, up and running and went to bed. Was thinking all I needed was a new Rcom adapter. Woke up the next Am and the incubator was off again. I guess the eggs are SOL. I tried a third adapter after work today, the incubator came on, but this time the display light flashes on/off. Not using it bc I don't want to really mess up the rcom. I was soo looking forward to being a hen mother. Guess ill have to wait

Do you have another incubator to move them too? If not, can you use a heating pad to keep the temp warm enough in the incubator until tomorrow when you can get another adapter/incubator? I always keep some of the 72 hour hand warmers "just in case", even one or two of those might keep the temp warm enough for a day or so.

One of the best reasons to have a styrofoam incubator on hand also. Great idea, Joy, on handwarmers! I forgot to get any myself.......usually walmart puts them on sale in the hunting department.

then you could dig through toolbox, junk drawer etc and see if you have a leftover adapter cord that has the same specs.
(Of course with my luck I wouldn't be able to find my glasses and would just try any of them til one worked LOL )

I did move the egg to another incubator, but it was the next day. I'm guessing it was too late

Well, that stinks. If it's new, it really stinks! I have two RCom King Suro 20 incubators and they're great. Haven't had any problems at all. I'm so sorry! I might be able to help you out with some chicks in a few weeks if you're interested.

I'm pretty sure I'm hatching WAYYYYYY too many!

It might not be too late. I NEVER give up on eggs, I've had some that set for 2 days without power (ice storm) and then I still had some chicks hatch. Not my best hatch but definately better than nothing. I wouldn't toss them, I'd give it a try. It may take a few days longer for them to hatch though.

I would just move it then finish out the incubation period. Never can tell. You may have a fighter in that egg

What kind of Marans are you hatching? I'll have Wheaten Marans hatching eggs in a few weeks if you're interested. My blue and black are still growing! Not quite ready yet.

Blue & Black.......and two hatched out yellowish colored.........maybe I got a couple of wheatens from them! One of the blrw is a splash I think going by color it is now.

I have........... quite few chicks in the brooder bin....
celebrate.gif
.....a couple of dozen total so far....
woot.gif

DH will not let me bring home more chickens..
