i put another 38 in the brooder fri. now have chicks ih three brooders set about 80 eggs today.

buff,black/blue.splash and wheaton/blue ameruacanas. speckeld sussex . b o, milli fleur cochins, blr wyandottes. and today picked up 6 jumbo ringneck pheasants eggs . so pheasant eggs will soon be coming ouy of my ears.

OK So Here's my little story about the Blue Chick that I hope can....
I txt Amy aka Nadine yesterday in a bit of panic...One of my Blue JG's chick just wasn't right. She couldn't walk right and one leg is a bit twitchy and her neck was bent in two places. Basicly meaning she stayed in the sleep position 80% of the time.(picture to follow). So in a panic I grabbed her up and made a home for her in their orginal nursery in the house. Now I have to say this although she looks abnormal, she still eats, drinks and cleans herself and poops all OK!!! But she just can't do much. So today at work I was telling the ladies I work with about it and unfortunately made the comment I made have to put her down....WELL...this sparked a total interest in YANCY"S chickens....I told them it just may come to this cause she acts like she has a nervous condition and one leg isn't right and her neck is bent up....SO they ask me what her name was and I said she doesn't have one yet..WELL they came up with a name for Her and made me swear on everything that she will have a permenant resident in the house til she gets better or passes on(by God's hand) I told them absolutly but if she really starts to suffer I will do what i have to do and make peace for the Lovely Blue Jersey Giant named "Blue Lilly"

I talked with the guy at Piedmont feed and seed today and he said it might just be a growing problem or the runt of a clutch but not to give up hope til it's over! SO Here is the good news HOME GIRL ...aka Blue Lilly will be a house chick til all is better. I guess here's my lesson on wishin..a few post back I said I missed having babies in the house and couldn't wait til I got my SWL or SS, now Blue Lilly just got a phat new home in da house!!!! I will be as postive towards her as I can so she gets all better!!!!

If anyone has any suggestion of what to do I WILL LISTEN!!!!! Currently she get's Manna Chick Fed and Vitamins in her water with a little apple cider and pedilite. with egg and a high protein diet. as i type this she has made her way to the food bowl and is lovein on the hardboiled egg!!

All in All I guess I'm learning more and more about the chicken world, I've only been keeping chickens for 7months and I've learned so much thanks to all you guys on BYC!

ps her sister chicks are huge and are growing way to fast THEY ARE AWESOME!!!! one is a baby blue color!!!! please keeep

Oh, Yancy, I sure hope she gets tons better! Maybe she will grow out of it. Some of mine get droopy or weird and I try to get them back right as rain. Sometimes they get better before I ever get a chance to do anything. Other times it is months of work. Of course, mine may be wishing they could be house pets, too!

Joy, I dry my peppers by threading them with sewing thread and hanging them up to dry. The last ones we dried over the heat lamp in the kitchen for the aquarium brooder! Didn't mean to but they wound up there and dried nicely.

and I glad to hear about the pepper thing cause I grow my own peppers also! and I string them in the kitchen window just like you do til they dry then I throw in a mini chopper til i have crushed red pepper(also great for cookin with)! Guess who's getting a red pepper treatment this weekend. uhhh THE big girls!!!!

Hello my nickname is Tobi. I'm a girl : ) I'm new on here I live in Greer sc. I have Bntam chickens One rooster and four hens they are black with a pretty green sheen in the sun there the cutest little things the hens lay the littlest eggs. but not sure if they are Old english game or duches I just injoy them so much. now I want to get some Ameraucana or Araucanas so I can have blue and green.so I can use them for crafts
