If you hatch out Silkies at all you should add it to the food about once or twice a week so that the chicks will have the Vit E in their system when they hatch. I do not think it takes much Vit E to keep them healthy but it is better to use prevention rather than having to do treatment. It is heartbreaking to have to treat sick birds. Welcome to all the new people!

We had to put my little wry neck down yesterday. And my son is not speaking to either of us!

I tried the vitamins and giving her water with a dropper but she was failing. Yesterday she wouldn't even open her eyes and she was making pitiful little sounds. I hate it!

But it was a beautiful weekend. Just very hot yesterday. Did anyone get those nasty storms? We had a tornado warning here and we saw the storms, but they skirted around us thankfully. We did our first mow of the year!

Hey everybody! I'm in Pickens, SC. Started with chickens last year and now I'm a truely addicted. My DH is gonna have to build me another coop now!! Just finished my not so successful first hatch but did get one cute BLRW out of it. I'm starting over on Wednesday with a dozen B/B/S Orpingtons

Got to get on it and add a fan to my little still air before then! It's great to see so many peeps from SC on here!

I have a guy from Michigan planning to come to Pickens to pick up some orpington chicks and my 2 roos.

He is interested in finding some breeders or SQ in a lot of different breeds while he is down here. He called off a long list of what he is looking for.
I did not get everything written down but here are a few of them.

(Excuse the spelling) Minorica, Std. Cochin, Red Shoulder __?__, Samutra, Barred Rock, Black Astrolop, Blue and White Langshorn ? or Andulusion (can't read my writing)

Sounds like he is interested in anything LF and good quality.

i am just relaxing after the weekend. my son from hampton called me sat. morning to see if i wanted to meet him at the chicken sale in springfield. so i left at 10 am to meet him. i got there at 12.pm. we went and had a very good lunch at the only resturant in town. got back to the sale and waited for chickens to sell. he sold 6 doz. black copper marans eggs 15 week old chicks 2 trios adout 2.5 months old and a trio about 6 months old. they sold i left about 6 pm and got back home at 8 pm. that was along day. but i am glad i went i did not sell anything but enjoyed my self with my son. i gave him all my black copper marans be cause he wanted to get started with chickens. he went home very happy
