South Carolina

Shortly after we moved to Virginia, DH and a friend stared at me like I'd lost my mind when I started screaming about ants crawling across my bare feet. I finally calmed down and explained...

"I was raised in the Land of Fire Ants!!!"

Hmm, another thing to add to my list of what I do NOT miss about South Carolina!

Time to go eat a brownie or three, then get some work done prior to bed so I can get out the door to Nadine's place before Noon!

Supposedly DE works. Sprinkle liberally on and around the nest. Mom said armadillos have moved up to SC and they LOVE to eat fire ants. Unfortunatley the dillos also love destroying your entire yard to get all the ants.

My parents use Amdro. Mom reports the chickens take care of any ants in their run. I would be afraid chicks would be stung to death.

Virginia has thus far managed to hold back fire ants at the NC border. One can be fined heavily if fire ants are found on your property and you didn't report them.

I got guineas for fire ant and garden pest...now I did see my guineas in the garden eating my lettuce plants.......grrrrrrrr.......but I will share that with them if they get rid of the ants..

Sumter TSC does have the pine pellets...ask for horse bedding pine pellets and they will show you were they are....

Girls are kicking it into high gear around here eggs eggs everywhere..lol

Did you ever find a non-poisonous way to get rid of those ants, especially around chickens???

Guineas!!!! They're not poisonous.

They will clean up the fire ants in a matter of days.
