Mauldin TSC had chicks for a buck today. White Leghorn and Cornish X. I couldn't convince hubby that we should get some more meat chicks. . .Isn't this the last week they have chicks?
So we made it to Lowes this afternoon. Finally.
Got out pretty cheap, only $250 worth. It sure don't look like much on the back of a small truck either. Oh, and they have nice restrooms! Not that I ever want to have to visit them again though.
I still am not up to par but enough that we loaded and unloaded the truck. A friend gave us a plastic doghouse thinking Jolie could use it but she is twice as large as it is so it will be a nice place for chickens or ducks to stay out of the wet or wind.
I didn't get nuthin' painted today but the chores are done. i am tuckered and am waiting for the birds to go to bed so i can close the doors. For it to be a Saturday I am exhausted and still didn't accomplish much!
I do want to say Happy Easter everyone!
I hope everyone will have a lovely day doing what you feel you need to do.
Nothing special here. DD has to work and I have chores. I am sure DH will find a chance to catch a nap (as he snores from the bedroom now!)
Has anyone here had problems with tsc chicks this year ? Mine seem to get some kind of "stupid syndrome". They just quit eating, some time around 3 weeks of age. Nothing I do helps. And what is so strange is, none of the chicks I have hatched have this "syndrome". I have lost over half of the chicks I bought......
Oh, by the way, if anyone is still looking for colored egg layers, I have EE and some beautiful black 1/2 Araucana olive egg layers.
Ok, I'm no longer looking for EE/Ameraucana hens. I found a local girl who was selling off her flock at very good prices!! She had a RIR, BR, and BO I thought about buying, but I stuck to my guns and got Frady (solid black head) and Kat (brownish head).
They are joining Mr. EE and Matilda below:
This is a shot of the eggs I got from my EE hens!
This is just a snapshot of the 3 egg colors I actually get now.
Lastly, this is a shot of Mr. Pearlie (aka Mr. Pearlie-White) taking a bath in the former place of 1 of our knockout rose bushes.
our TSC in Lancaster is having a Sell Your Animals Day on the 30. Please let us know if anyone is coming Im sure we will be there to take a peek. Enola we bought TSC chick and they seem to eat fine so far least 4 weeks old now.
