That's why I am so happy this is our last move. DH and I made the heartaching decision that for the sake of the kids, the animals and my sanity, we are looking into buying our first ever house in FL near family and seeing how it's our final destination anyways and with only a year left in the Navy, it makes NO SENSE to move cross country with kids and animals in tow plus mountains of stress with him being sent to sea at least 6 months out of the year.
Does anyone know of spitzhaubens in S.C. I have tried mail order with allmost no luck. I have 1 spitzhauben to show for it, thats my 75 dollar chicken (ya youall know were transplants now aka city people) I have 15 birds mostly mixed breeds and a few purebreads raise them for eggs and we just love chickends, but so do the foxes that live around us.
Chick in a bottle -- perfect for apartment dwellers!
Have to tell y'all that we finished reconstructing and expanding our coop and run today, so I finally got my seven-week-old Golden Comets outside this afternoon. I went out at dusk and found them all waiting for me at the gate. Went in the run, picked two up, put them inside on a roost, and turned around to find the other five lined up at my feet patiently waiting their turn.
All safely closed in for their first big campout now!
Lol! Adorable photo! Are any of you close by Sumter and have silkies? I had a 3 week old silkie that was failing to thrive and kicked the bucket this morning. My new chicks were already bigger than her and twice as heavy. Even though she ate she wouldn't put on weight. It was odd. She seemed do fragile from the start. I'm almost willing to get one at that age or older and skip the teeny tiny stages. My husband got me this silkie from a local breeder so we will probably go back, but I thought I would ask here first.
