I order from either Cutler Supply or First State Vet Supply. Sulmet is a very affordable medication for cocci. I don;t know how it is for other problems as I haven't had it to clear up anything else mine get. I have tried it on the youngsters that are always getting caught out in the rain and get the sniffles. I was hoping a mild medication would help but they do not seem to do any better while on it.
I swear! As soon as I put chicks out in the little pens it comes a rain. What is the deal here? It is a conspiracy!
I no sooner had them out yesterday then it started raining. they are covered up some but if it rains sideways they get it. It is small cages on the ground so not a lot of protection from rain. Bless their little hearts, it is like they get a shower almost every day. Thankfully it was after dark before we got more rain last night!
Joy, I understand what you are saying! My Jersey Giants go broody but when I let them sit and hatch they just throw the baby out of the nest and continue to set. They want to be broody and ill tempered but not a mama. I like them better when they are up doing chickeneering stuff. Making eggs and looking beautiful should be all they have to do.
Hre is the new lovely pair of Guineas roaming my farm now! Thanks to Joy, Guinea boy has a mate. She is a wild one. Not wild as far as not letting me get close but wild that she takes him wandering more than he used to. My neighbors watch out for them as they are roaming around off my property now. Guinea girl did go coop up one night but Guinea boy can't get her to go back in. She would rather sleep at night in the trees behind the barn, much to his displeasure but he if comes in by himself then she wanders around hollering for him and it tears his fragile nerves up.
He did come in a few nights ago by himself and I feared she was gone for good but the next morning she was out in the barnyard and he was itching to get out of the coop.
Guineas have been interesting. And now I have about 12 little ones growing up who are the cutest little things I have ever seen!

Amy - so sorry my guinea hen is being a bad influence on your guy. I tried to raise her right, but you know how those girls can be.
They have a mind of their own.
