Yup, Forrest is a girl. She has quite the pretty face about her. By fall she will have more white coming in and next year will probably have too much white for showing but I think you just wanted her for the cute effect, eh?
You all coming over this afternoon? I have your eggs and the girls are ready for their new husband.
Never mind, just got a text from Nicole!

See you in a few.

Amy, Sorry to hear about your car I've been away from here for a while and sheesh all the stuff that happened. I am down here in Florida right now but coming home tomorrow (Happy Dance). Yes Jeff only charged me 150 to move this ginormous coop from Columbus, NC to Gaffney, SC and helped me get it exactly where I wanted it (that was the hard part). Taco (itty bitty white kitty) is doing well and growing, and the other little orange terrorist is doing just fine as well terrorizing my house, I have papers on my desk, my husband said he's climbing up there knocking them off just to watch them fall then pounce on them. ugh Silly kitty.

Sorry to hear about the Storm damage, maybe a row of those leland cypress trees or something for a wind break to slow down the wind would help.

I lost 1 silkie hen but not sure exactly what got her I think she was trying to go broody and just didn't get off the nest enough to drink in this heat. The rest so my hubby and caretaker say are doing fine, hot but ok.

Ha! Karen, I knew you had to be in Florida! Either took the kids down or you are bringing them home or you went and stayed a week....bless your heart.

See! Jeffrey doesn't charge an arm and a leg (only a tow!) to haul stuff. He is a super person to work with in getting stuff moved and he has that new truck to pay for so if anyone should charge more you would think it would be him.
But then, I have had to deal with North Hills Automotive in Taylors and they were robbers! They wanted $900 to do a tune up on my car. The one they are holding hostage now in Simpsonville. I took it to Joe over on Heron Circle and he charged me $300 to tune it up, change oil, check hoses etc.

Still loving that nice big coop, too, aren't you???

Glad the kitties are growing up to be terrors....er, I mean, pretty kitties!

I know the orange one was going to be a hand full. He wanted to drive home!

I have 2 orange ones left here. They are so cute and I know they need to go to the shelter while still adorable but I enjoy watching them play so much.

Amy, I can't believe someone steals your car, damages it and you end up paying. Something's seriously wrong with that whole situation!

We didn't get any rain at all today. Hmmmm..... but I did sell 6 EE. I do still have some layers if anyone is interested. And silkie chicks and a few Ameraucana chicks.

Cole made a huge burn pile today and was busy burning all the coop pieces when I left today. I thought maybe we could use some of them but he just wanted them gone. I nicely suggested moving the chicken area down a hill and he looked at me like I had grown two heads. Apparently the damage is not that bad in his eyes! I'll remind him of that the next two days when we're fixing the runs!

Amy, take a camera and take pictures of your car before you clean up a single thing. It sounds like the police made a huge mess when they were looking for evidence and the police department should be responsible for some damage, no matter how old the car is. They should also be made aware that no one covered the window when it rained this week, yet, even when you had been told where the car was, you weren't allowed to cover it yourself. This isn't something that should just be let go. It's a matter of principal. As for the tow bill, I would bet that is what North Hills would charge the Police Department, so they are passing it on to you (which means our county taxes are overpaying for their towing services, too).

I was trying to tell your story to Lou Ann this evening and finally just told her to get on here and read it herself. You write it much better than I can tell it! One day, you will see her actually post on here. She will be listed as Lou Ann's Garden Girls. I showed her how to do it a couple of days ago so hopefully she will start taking part in the conversations soon. After all, the chickens live at HER house!

Okay, if this posts twice I am sorry. I posted earlier and it never showed up so I will try again. I went to visit my friend and partner in chicken crime today. I don't get to see her often as she lives in Easley. Well, I hit the jackpot! I came home with my trio of La Fleche chickens (they sure are pretty), 2 salmon favorelle chicks and 2 blue marans pullets as well as a jar of homemade chow chow! I'm thrilled.

Thinking I might should visit her more often.

Hope you all enjoyed the rainy day with cooler temps today. I'm hoping the temps will hang around for the weekend. I guess we needed the rain but I'm getting really tired of the mud in my yard. My poor white silkies.....they need a special yard with indoor outdoor carpet. They're too beautiful to get their feet dirty.

Advice on coccidia anyone? I've been treating with sulmet for about a week now. I just did another fecal test at work and they are still eaten up with coccidia! How long do you usually have to treat until you see improvement? They are all eating, drinking, walking around acting normal. From now on I think I may wait to put any on the ground in tractors until they're bigger! I took a stool sample from the ones I've grown out in the barn and they have no coccidia.

Have you tried Corid? I know that is specifically for coccidia. I haven't had to battle that yet. Well, I thought on Wednesday morning that my Marans coop was suffering from it. I lost a blue pullet suddenly and another one wasn't moving. I put him in the tractor and spent some time researching and then left for Bible School. Came home and got hit by the tornado! And guess what? That sick one was still sitting there even though the tractor was long gone and smashed. Now he seems fine and I haven't had time to think about it. The heat might have gotten that one but I did notice they had diarrhea last week. I need to look today.

Hope you figure it out! Can they fight it off or do they have to be treated?
