I heard it is supposed to be back near 100 by Thursday and Friday! I am melting....

I did as much as I could this morning before 10:30 and had to quit. I could barely put one foot in front of the other. I am trying to make all my appts early in the mornings so I do not have to be out in the heat. I really do not remember suffering with this heat so much years ago. I can't tell if it is hotter or if it is just me being so much older, fatter and having breathing problems. I used to work on horse farms and much out about 25 stalls a day, refill with shavings, turn out and bring in horses, water, feed and repair the places without suffering like this. BUT I was a young chick then. Being a old hen is nothing to crow about, I tell ya!

Thanks, Kimberly. Everyone is telling me it isn't so bad and I am sure it could be worse but I can't stand to see it. Believe me, it was much worse when DH rear ended another car about 6 years ago with it. It cost $1100 to get it fixed then but we had to have the whole front changed out. Now I may just have headlights put in and drive it til it drops. Ugh!

Hey, Jackie! I got one of those! But I call mine a hose pipe.

That would be great for horse back riding or mtn biking, for sure! Or even hiking!

Yeah but you gotta stop, turn on the hose (wait for the well water to run), and get your shoes all mucky wet. You can put ice in Camelbaks and not stop painting, or chicken herding, or counting eggs, or moving pens...

Does the mouthpiece just sorta hang there? It could get rather icky if handling a lot of birds or cleaning the coop!

I don't drink out of the hose either.

Has he managed to win over Fancy?

That poor girl
lol.png

I haven't seen him breed her but they do sleep together all piled up inside the crate at night so I guess she thinks he is an okay kinda guy. I suppose it may take a few more days but she is coming under his spell.
You know the other girls thought he was pretty dreamy there at first so it can't be long before Fancy decides they are correct. Of course, I can't see he has much time for anything besides eating. He is forever with his face in the bucket and calling the girls. I guess now that is top roo (he's the only roo!) he is getting his fill of food!
Flash has been a funny boy but oh so sweet! He does follow me over to the crate when I go to collect eggs. I think he is trying to talk me into some cold watermelon. Could you imagine what his face would look like after eating some of that?

For those wondering what I was going to put in my new chicken coop/kennel here is a look at the new occupants and there home. The large kennel in the back I put up yesterday, then got this great idea that I could put up the smaller one attached to it and increase the size of of the smaller one. Both kennels were purchased "used" to house our pigs/hogs who now have a much bigger pen. We hope to make a Peafowl pen out of the newest hog pen when the girls are gone.

I have hung an all wire coop in the back corner of the kennel where I put my babies every night for safety. These little white, plus one partridge, silkie are from eggs purchased off ebay. They are really nice looking little birds. They look so small in this pen!

The small kennel in the front will house my older silkies when I move their hutch in to it. I have already been letting them out to forage around so it will work out well for them and they can get use to the younger ones right behind them. I also want to put some chicken wire over the top of the small kennel as we now have a falcon of some kind hanging around. There is wire over the top of the large kennel and we are going to put a few strips of metal roofing on it for some more cover.
