Did I already ask this? Does anyone here raise OEGB? If so what colors? I wonder how Serama do with OEGB???

I raise solid white and silver duckwing OEGB. Mine are about the same size as my seramas so I would think you could keep them together if you wanted to.

Humm, silver duckwings? I will have to look those up! My OEGB are all black! Came from birds my parents raised for over 20 years. I need some new blood introduced....

Ah Ha! So that's how you do it, a pressure washer huh? I've always wondered how everybody keeps those wire floors so nice and clean. Mine are a sight! It's just too hot to spend hours out there with a dust pan, shovel and wire brush - which is how I have to do it. I really hate wire floor pens.

There is just no way I would put a bunch of my chickens in a truck, van and certainly not in my car

to travel more than an hour and a half away. Good luck to all of you that do this next month!

Between the heat outside or the stink from having them inside, I would find this very uncomfortable. I may have plenty to sell but I can't risk any of them just to sell some and I certainly don't need any more! (This from a crazy woman sitting here loving on her new lavender Silkie chicks! And some blue Silkie chicks and blue Mottled bantam Cochin chicks (Cowboy babies!).....

I worry over all of you being out in the heat next weekend. I am sure you will take plenty of cold water and tarps for shade. Be careful and have fun but I am praying for cooler weather for you all and the chickens!
If you don't find what you want there then maybe you can find one of us local to help out. I know some of you have wish lists.

Well I got me a Broody Buff Orp! She's been on the eggs for 3 days! I hope she stays broody til they hatch,So here come the questions!!!!

1 About how long til hatch date?

2 Her nest is in a odd place I can't section her off? should I even? or just let Good ol MotherNature take her course

I'll ask baby question later, like will the rooster or other hens hurt the babies?, or should I (if any) do hatch just take them from her? Questions Questions Questions!!
But I am excited about this part of the Chicken Experience!!!

Oh I hope she stays broody!

PumPum has been outside for 2days seems all good, but she still wont walk around. like she's just lazy or something.... Any Ideas? She eats good, she cleans herself, she grooms, she can walk but acts like her legs are weak with no strength. I'm still giving her oral injection, but I think I may stop due to she got to a good point but isn't progressing??? URG ARG!!!

Hi, everyone! Finally got caught up on the thread. Whew.... We were in Asheville for last weekend, came home for a day and went to Atlanta. Now I'm home. Can't believe I haven't lost anyone else to the heat. Still have some hens that are traumatized by our storm and have not yet started laying.

Come on, already! I have LOTS of silkie chicks in white, black, blue, splash and partridge if anyone's interested. Hatched 20 today.

It sure is different hatching your own eggs! I've tried my best to talk my husband into moving the coops out of the wind zone but he says it will cost too much money to rebuild the runs and run water and power. We're going to try strapping them down and hope for the best. On a positive note, we might be getting a nice little house out there and getting rid of the singlewide. I would feel much safer if that were the case! And a tornado shelter.

I'm hoping to come to the swap next weekend. Have to see what the week brings! It's almost August... my birthday month and one step closer to fall. It can't get here soon enough!

I've been thinking about you this week and wondering if you were okay. I thought you were probably out of town. Lou Ann and I will be at the swap and may have one of the Ameraucanas with us since we are pretty sure we have a rooster and she wants to keep her neighbor's liking her. We are going to see how certain it looks by next weekend, but he sure struts like one and looks different from the other Ameraucana. I am soooo ready for fall! I'm not much of a summer person anyway and trying to keep chickens alive has added another reason for me not to like it. They had a box fan blowing into their run today and Lou Ann said they were all scared of it. They finally realized it was good for them. See you next weekend!
