The one that I thought was a pullet always acted different than the others. Never sparred or played. He always acted very demure and lady like.

Day before yesterday, he kept watching the others crow. Yesterday he figured it out and joined them.

I was wondering if the the turkens had showed up yet. I can't wait until Lou Ann sees those. Her expression should be a good one to record. I've decided not to show her a picture of one first. It's more fun this way!

come by this weekend. you can see how much the chicks I got in Irmo have grown!

I've had large stock for years.. well all my life.. and no for an animal to be animal aggressive does not pour over to humans.. I have had donkeys kill stray dogs cats anything they think is a threat.. they stomp, throw like rag dolls and crush.. it is the same for stallions.. my daughters stallion killed two adult geldings ( different times). the same way.. they were totally broken up inside.. its seams so vicious.. and then after they feel the intrusion on their ground is over, they are perfectly calm. while the dying animale lies on the ground.. they act like nothing happened.. My daugtehr wanted me to shoot Lobo the last time but I told her this is animals behavior not human behavior ,, even thought to us it is sooo totally wrong and well murder.. to them it is not it is simply protection, territory, food or breeding driven.. they don't hold animosity, they just react. I tell ya he is the best people horse, he thinks he's a big dog ( loves dog food in fact) children , new adults, older people he loves them all.. so I told her she doesn't take him on any large trail rides where there are 200 other horses.. ( done that on a stud, not fun they fight and holler the whole time not a pleasant ride) but with a small group not a problem, also showing is good . now we have gelded Lobo and it took him a full 2 yrs and 3 months before we could let him out in the pasture with the mares and geldings and yearlings. ( He adores babies) he still has the stallion mindset especially about His Herd. but the major harmful aggression is gone..
Its so hard not to put human emotions onto animals. especially on a farm.. its just to hard and doesnt work..

sorry about all the boys.

Oh and where and when is chickenstock.. I want to go... badly...

the cool air today worked.. I HAVE AN EGG!!!!!

my white leghorn Twin Wins the first egg title.

.. its a perfect little white egg.. sooo cute.. maybe if this weather keeps under 90 all my girls will join in... oh and she used the dog house I have set up as a next box,. yeahhhhhhhh Im so happpppy....

So sorry Mary - I have that rooster luck too!

I ordered 24 blue marans chicks and 17 of them were roosters. Out of 24, only 5 were blue and the majority were splash. Maybe next year I will finally have some blue marans.

I'm very happy to finally have blue orpingtons though.
