Today is my One Year Anniversary with CHICKENS!!!!! I thank you all for all your help(especially Amy/Nadine)! I have learned so much and I'm still very much enjoying my Chicken Experience!!!!! From chicks via the post office to the latest thing, one of those chicks is now a Great Momma Hen with her own chicks!!!! So Amazing!

Thanks Chicken Pals!

.....Amongst all of my chicken drama, someone suggested I make one last plea to the breeder in Georgia. Not sure whom suggested it, but on Sunday I wrote a really nice letter to the lady, and it might have worked. I basically told her "I want what's fair for both of us. Surely we can find a peaceful resolution to this problem." I offered to take a refund for less to make up for the bird I was not returning and she agreed. Not gonna hold my breath on getting any money returned, but for me it is more gratifying to feel as though I won.

If I come to the chickenstock this weekend, who is gonna let me bombard them with questions regarding showing poultry??? Any takers? I don't want to be a nuisance, but I have no clue where to start.

Also, I faxed my application in for my green card. Here's hopin it comes in soon.

I think $25 is fair but how bad do you want to part with the roo? I've been giving mine away with purchase of a hen, which is basically what they're wanting you to do.

That's a good point...I reallllly wanna get rid of some roos so I may just suck it up and take the $20. boo..I'm thinking I need to learn how to either process my own roos or just sell chicks when they're tiny babies!

Kimberly (Chickychickybaby) would probably know more about that than I would. I went in Feb to buy birds and support all of chickenkind but do not show so I can't really say. Maybe the website for the American Poultry Assc. would have it by now.

the NCPoultry group on Yahoo is where I get info for that show - Once it gets closer, there will be a post up on the chickenstock section of BYC with who to contact for registration etc.

I think in NC your birds have to be AI tested before showing. I do not think they test at the door anymore for anything.

Here is what is coming up in NC & SC
** 10-29-11 ** Morganton, NC ** Friendship Poultry Club
** 11-05-11 ** Morganton, NC ** OEGBCONC: Old English Jamboree
** 11-19-11 ** Clemson, SC ** Anderson all Bantam Club
** 11-26-11 ** Winston-Salem, NC ** Forsyth Fowl Fanciers Club
** 12-03-11 ** Orangeburg, SC ** Sandlappers Poultry Breeders
** 12-10-11 ** Smithfield, NC ** Cape Fear Feather Fanciers

Thanks for the info!

Amy Nadine: are you still going to let people come watch and learn how to process your roos on Labor Day? I may be interested in coming and hanging out/ helping if you are.

The 2 in the top picture on the right are not pied but Royal Purples. Lower left looks to be a pearl and I can't tell with the wet one on the top left.

The bottom picture has a light buff I think and maybe a light Coral or what they call an Opaline. Tell me if the one light one on the right has light blue thin stripes or are the all light tan? Thin light tan will be a buff, if it has a wide stripe it will be a dundotte--but I do not see a wide stripe on these and of course the light blue stripes give you Corals or Opaline.

My fingers are still crossed for a Coral Blue!!!!
