Hey, all! I've been a bit MIA the past few days. Just busy, busy! I've been working on my new website and it is now up. Still needs lots of content but check it out if you like:

My lavender Ameraucanas started laying yesterday! I'm so excited. I feel like I've been looking for an egg from them forever. I still had four black split roosters in there but I called a farmer friend of mine and he came out yesterday and got them. And gave me a bunch of fresh veggies in trade. Worked for me!

All this talk of fowl pox scares me! After all the talk about mites and lice last week, I realized I've been a bit remiss in checking my birds. I definitely had mites on some of the chickens so we spent ALL DAY Saturday treating everyone and their coops. It did give me a chance to go through each coop and right down what exactly is in there. It's amazing how fast you forget exactly what you have! So now I have a good handle on how many girls/boys/breeds/colors I actuallly have. And it was pretty good! I'm hoping we won't ened to retreat in two weeks but we'll see. We used Ivermectin on the birds and Sevin dust in the coops. Hope that's enough!

Ok, he is half Redstar half Dominique, which I call Golden Crown. He has a few brown feathers on his wings, and some golden checkered feathers on his head. He has a rose comb, and a sweet look on his face. I'll take pictures soon and show them to who ever is interested.

you give them hull and ALL? I will def, buy some friday for all mine.. oh an mine will do the sit ont he nest then leave too. I have 3 that had just stopped laying alltogether dont know why .. they started gave a couple eggs each then went on strike. bummer
