Total noobie question. Do roosters make the same sounds as hens? Do they sing the egg song only without laying?

Just heard my mother, also currently battling some illness, has had a bad reaction to a new antibiotic. If you have a moment, please say a prayer for her recovery and her medical staff to be brilliant and know exactly what to do! She's in an ER in North Charleston right now. Hopefully we'll hear good news by morning.
