Oh how beautiful! I'm jealous

My son is taking riding lessons and begging for a horse.

She has a Tri color Paint that is a year old also...even prettier...very small adoption fee( these came from a foster for equine dream rescues...they had been seized by animal control from another rescue and were in bad shape but are looking much better!) She is NOT broke but is used to being handled and will make a GREAT horse with some time and love...and training. I have some horse experience so you may want to check into that side of things if you are interested. PM me for more info and I can prob email a pic.

Thank you...she is beautiful but still a little under weight...she was all bones a month ago and covered in sores...she is a little stubborn but I like spirit and I know she is going to make an awsome gal!! The other gal was hard to pass up but we are not prepared for 2 and I felt this lil girl needed help more. She is very dependent on other horses and needs to learn to depend on people so she will be alone for little while then we will add one!! Its hard because they are herd animals but it will be best in the long run so she can learn to trust...she has not had good people until the last few weeks.

A sad beginning to her life but you will have to keep us informed on how she does--I would like to know! I rescued a paint from a bad situation about seven years ago now and had to put him down. He was only a yearling but a beautiful boy. He had a knee problem that no amount of love or money would fix. At least I got him out of the situation he was in and let him have some fun for a short while herding my sheep. I do love paints!

I can tell you what little bit I have learned over the years. I don't visit the Marans thread because they still have not been accepted into the SOP and people argue about them all the time. Been going on for more than 4 years, at least. I have probably mentioned a lot of dislikes I have over some Marans breeders so I will shut up about that.

A lot of people have always loved the dark, dark brown egg that Marans are well known for over in France. Over here, folks started trying to perfect the breed to show them the way they wanted them to look. With that, they lost egg color. So their happy butts decided to breed in Penedesencas! (Don't ask me why) Those are LF that are very flighty but lay the most gorgeous egg! Nice dark brown and a good size. However, they have carnation combs and those combs carry a dominant trait so guess what pops up when breeding some bloodlines of Marans?

I got some eggs off of the auction one time that were very dark and hatched out the chicks. Ack! I sold them as mixed breeds because that is what they are. They were flighty youngsters and probably lay a nice dark egg but not what I wanted in my breeding pen. I like my Marans laid back and gentle. Their egg color is their own and maybe not perfect but I like it just fine. If I see a sprig, I sell them but so far none of mine have produced that.

If you want a breed that lays the darkest brown you will ever see then get the black or Partridge Penedesencas but be warned, they are big birds and when they are frightened you may get clobbered. They have a nice wing span and long legs.

I am glad they want your Polish. I don't know how you can let go of the buff laced though. Those are so gorgeous!

OMG! That is so awesome!! I know your roo is happy to be a papa and I can't wait to see photos of those cuties! I love the Faverolles and would have more if their eggs were bigger. They are the best kept secret for back yard chicken lovers. They are pretty, sweet and easy going. They are supposed to be a good table bird but I haven't ever had the opportunity to try one and don't really want to since they are such sweeties.

Congrats on those new kids. I know you are so happy.

That is a work of art. I'm happy if I get anything to live but here you are getting something so exotic to bloom. How amazing!
Do you have a sun room or something you put these plants in or are they just in certain spots in your home that they may do well in?

I have those Christmas cactus that I try so hard to keep alive and still they struggle. I don't understand plants too well.
