I left the 4 questionable in but I think I will quickly take out the 2 that look like they quit days ago(closer to day 10)...2 others just dont look quite as developed and if they quit it was within a few days...I dont want an eggsplosion..... hope this is best!!

With the temp spiking on mine last weekend I was really worried about the d'Uccle eggs the breeder sent me. They are in the hatcher now. It looked like they will still good to go but I do need new batteries in the light. Between the light and the camera I should buy stock in the battery company!

Lucky me is getting a couple of DixieBeast's hatchlings...If she can bare to part with any...she is such a broody and protective mother hen!

I have a question...I have 4 chicks that my free roaming Game hen hatched and after she raised them 2 weeks in the dirt floor coop I took them and have them in a bin inside. They have been inside for 1 week so they are 3 weeks old. They have wing feathers and are getting a beginning of a tail. Should I be providing grit? I am only providing medicated chick starter and clean water. They had that and laying crumbles I saw them in and pecking before I took them inside. They were also on the dirt floor and had access to scratch feed I threw daily. Grit yet? and then how do I offer that? a separate cup?

Just stepped on the back porch without looking or easing the door open first and...there ran another skunk off my porch!!!

Looks like the only answer is 2 traps...one out there for the cat and one on the porch for the skunk!!! LOLOL BTW...I plan on shooting the skunk IN the trap if I get it...bad idea?

It is only a bad idea if you do not like skunk smell or don't mind damaging the trap. Drowning would be my suggestion. Approach the trap holding up a blanket or something to hide yourself from the skunk. Approach from the front of the trap so the door blocks you from view. Cover the trap and move it to the barrel or large trough full of water. submerge trap fully for several minutes. Remove trap, open door, put on gloves and remove dead skunk. Dispose of skunk body at far away enimies house by mailbox. in a day or so, you will not want to drive by it.
